What sort of street preparations are necessary to get public streets ready for road racing? How long is a good circuit.

What sort of race? I'd think there would be a big difference between setting up for a tarmac rally or for an F1 race.

I was tinking about vintage/historic sports cars...essentially street cars not dedicated racers, but all would be at least 40 yrs old..

It takes a lot of money, a lot of support staff, a willing municipality and a VERY understanding insurance company. You should contact Chris Kneifel, former Trans Am driver and series steward for Champ Car, before it folded into IRL.

The Pittsburgh event has been going on for twenty-five plus years, has a great volunteer support staff and tremendous community support. Even a driver fatality over a dozen years ago could not stop it, but one did at Copper Mountain in Colorado around that time. Just because it's just for vintage cars doesn't mean the safety regs are relaxed. It'll be the insurance company's call on course approval and they'll require a specialist to design and approve it.

Best of luck. I've enjoyed running Schenley Park for two decades, but permanent circuits are my preference.
