In the glory days of Road and Track magazine, each April they would have an "April Fools" joke road test. In 67 they did a 'road test' of a 110 LeRhone Camel. Got my copy today and it is quite good mixing humor with a well written operational description.

Copies available with second hand sellers.

I remember that.. They used "Snoopy" in the line drawing... Guess I'm showing my age...

They also had a hilarious one of the "Electrophant" - an electric powered passenger carrying robot elephant for circus promotions.

In the early (I think) 60's, April Fool's issue, R&T had a 'road test' of the "Stirling Moss Robot". Pictures, etc.

The wrinkles on his neck were 'cooling louvers', if you were close to him you could hear the hydraulic pump motors.

It was named 'Stirling' from the British money and 'MOSS' was from fictitious 'Ministry Of Speed Sports'.

    Was very funny.

A play on his robotic driving style... he could consistently lap a track to the exact second, over and over and over, hit the same exact point on every corner, etc.

Was an incredible driver in my opinion.

Well, we are off topic - but it really is a shame to see what has become of our old Road & Track...
