Have any of you guys gathered locational resources based on a trip route you're taking? What I mean is a resource list of mechanics or shops and exotic-savvy tow companies along your route?

I'm going to DC (from NY) a few times coming up and am looking to gather some names and #s - even of FChatters too now I think about it - of wrenches and trusted dealers along the way in case I have problems w.the car. It's not a particularly long trip but I want to be prepared. I'd hate to leave it up to my insurance co tow service to send any old wrecker out, and then to try to figure out on Sun aft where to send it is tough on the side of the road.

    Thx.

Best insurance = AAA Plus. They will tow you up to 100 miles, to any location of your choice, for free. Other towing "policies" or clubs will only tow you to the nearest service station, usually the station where the truck came from. And with AAA Plus, they virtually always send a flatbed, not a hook. And if you tell the dispatcher that it is a foreign car and requires a flatbed, they will always send one. I've used their service many times, never a problem.

you have plenty of ground clearance on a 308 I wouldn't be overly concerned about a tow company messing up the vehicle.

308's only have 4" of clearance. Even with a flatbed, you need to be careful. Make sure the flatbed has webbed belts rather than chains.

AAAplus: mandatory with an older Ferrari.

As to a database, somewhere on here I compiled a list of Ferrari service spots from NY to Mass.
Search is usually my friend, but not today.

I guess I could do AAA+ but on principal I vowed never to put my money with them after the left me stranded once.

And it's not so much clearance I'm worried about - my buddy has a concourse winning vintage F that broke down (regular occurrence) and had to use any-port-in-a-storm flatbed who proceeded to let the car roll into the winch :0
