Last minute questions on destinations in the area of Boston and on the way. The route will consist highly of Interstate 90 from Buffalo area all the way to just under Boston at which point we will detour to Cape Cod. Our plan is to spend 2 days in Cape Cod, 1-2 in Boston and 1-2 days in the Mount Washington hills. My question is where I should consider stopping on the way. Some nearby locations include Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Albany, Chicopee/Springfield, Cape Cod, and of course Boston. Locals please let me know! I have already been suggest Howe Caverns which seems amazing.
It depends a lot on what you are looking to do, but I'd suggest looking into one of the following: Adirondack Park - I'd like to get to Saranac Lake/Lake Placid area. I haven't been yet, so someone else can vouch for whether it is really worthwhile or not. Lake George - Probably similar to Saranac Lake, but I've driven around it and it is very beautiful. Saratoga Springs - Beautiful town area, looked like a good number of cafes and art galleries. Berkshires - Great Barrington is a nice town, you can check to see if the Boston Pops is playing at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA, which can be a wonderful place to picnic
Any more suggestions? We will be leaving in approx 10 hours! Thanks for all your input so far I will be glancing over last minute stops all tonight.
Update: I am in Hyannasis on the island of Cape Cod. Tomorow is provincetown for lunch and make our way to Boston slowly for either tomorow night or thursdy morning
