    Hey gang!

Am bringing an old car home this weekend, (fingers crossed).

I'm sure there is a lot of support thru Oregon and California, but what is the best route thru NV, AZ, NM?? I10??

So far the only stops are in Napa. Golden Gate Bridge?? (I heard it's For Sale). Should the Harrah collection in Reno be added? Maybe the new Jim Hall Exhibit in Midland?

Any emergency shops along the way you'd recommend for parts support?

    TIA,

    Speedy308

Picking up the Portland 308GTB, in FerrariAds.

Meticulously dealer maintained for 29,000 miles.

Gonna take it slow, hopefully won't need anything, but if it stops, will flatbed to nearest assistance! Route so far: Portland to Napa.........Houston, Texas.
Note there is some gaps there!!!!!!!!

After that, taking advice here!! Thanks!!! Shall I take notes, pics??

We're gonna see the Andretti Winery Saturday (See No. Cal. Section)

Well, are you a super slab kinda guy? If so, no brainer, just remember the odd numbers run north and south and the even numbers go east and west.

But if you have a sense of adventure, I can give you some alternative routes. But I wouldn't count on any Ferrari assistance. If fact, I wouldn't even count on cell phones working. Just you, your Ferrari, and the deep blue sky.

Hey Speedy! Well, I'm in Albuquerque, NM (near Santa Fe) right at the intersection of I-25 and I-40.

Best route through NM: Stay on the highways (I-25 or I-40). If there's a problem, I know of shops around here that can address it. I'll PM you with my mobile #.

    Take care,

    --Mike

    Speedy 308.
THere is plenty of support in AZ.
By the way, I have a 79 308, and I've put 2000 miles on it recently with no problems. I recommend that you bring some oil with you. Just in case.

Total miles is around 2275. I've gone that far without problems, but don't know this car. Of course, it is identicle to the one I DO know, but newer!
    At least 300 cars newer!

    Texas!

Get out a map. Locate Lake Tahoe. Now, locate Pueblo, Colorado. The line that connects these dots is US 50. Because it is the high dessert, it will be a lot cooler than the I-10 pit. Plus, how fast do you want to go? It will just be you and your Ferrari, baby. Only problem will be night driving. There is a lot of wild life out at night. I have done this run in more past lifetimes than I care to admit. You'll come back a new man.

Spend tyhe night in Sante Fe, go to the bar in the Eldorado hotel, eat at the bar and talk to Dan the bartender, he is a jaguar man but nice anyway. Messilla by Las Cruces is another good break point, eat at the Double Eagle or the Mexican place by the Plaza. Enjoy the meal because it is the last food until Houston if you stay on I-10

Thanks! Sante Fe is a great ski spot, too. Appreciate the tip!

The ONLY allure to I10 is the straight line speed factor. Wish I had the time to linger... say, a month!!!

Yep! She's a good driver (New Beetle Turbo S, 6 speed), but over drives the braking zones, IMO. She says "I have a good record!". LOL! Don't you hate drivers that do that?

I was contemplating going it alone, but she'd have none of it!
A friend of the family was killed in a 914 in 1972 when he and his gf fell asleep on the way home to Texas from a ski trip. Hit a bridge and burned.
I had his Ludwigs for years, after.

Maybe she DOES love me! I have no experience with that, having only a wife before!

I'm glad the Napa Valley thing with Mario fit the schedule. I think after that it's all truck stops!!!! Beef jerkey and bad coffee.

You guys are doing great! Keep it up!

    ChuckEbaby,

She picked out a new sundress for the Winery tour, and told me I'd better get a haircut! I've met Mario many times with my charity work, we'll test his memory.

She wanted to video, too, but I had to lug the gear!

    Have some fun Buddy!!
It would be nice for you to get 1-2 more days
for such an adventure. Have you thought about
running the Oregon Coast? Very Scenic!!

I envision a similar trip when I purchase one
next Spring. I believe the first Trip should
be a personal one! ( No transport here.)
( Unless it's an East Coast Purchase. 1800-
2000 miles would be doable, but 4-5 days
    to absorb the experience.)

    I envy your "Fortunate" Task..

If you're planning to go through Vegas and then into AZ, be aware that there are construction and security delays at the Hoover Dam. Not so bad on weekdays, but they can be major on weekends. An alternative to crossing the dam is to go south on rt. 95 to Needles and pick up I-40 there.

Let me know if you need help for the Vegas area.

Of all things to bring Alan, remember a fire extinguisher. You don't want a repeat of last time. I just looked at the ad, you must love those boxer trims cars. Happy trails & have a safe journey.

Actually, the first car didn't catch fire until we were back in Houston.

Good thought though. I'll add it to the list. Do you think the airlines would worry if I just carried a honkin' BIG one on the plane, on my lap????? :)
