you're right, if someone called you a racist would you like it ?

that person who said it should be banned and right now !!

you lot would be screaming blue murder if anyone dared say Americans are racists so pull your head in before you look as stupid as the idiot who said that about ALL Australians, we're just as proud of our country as you are of yours and we'll defend ourselves as we see fit ..... you Texans should understand that attitude

Carlo, get all the facts before blindly agreeing with the googlers .... I'm no lover of over-regulated motoring but in this instance only hours before a person was killed in the same vicinity so the police that attended the Hamilton incident could quite easily have been the police picking up the pieces of the person earlier in the day .

What if he lost control (oh would that be possible of a track god ??!! ) and by some quirky co-incidence killed a kangaroo (they run wild in Melbourne you know :) )

Seriously, we are all treated equally here, you may not like it but if he was let off and I had to cop a fine for the same thing I wouldn't be happy. There are plenty of people who have had their cars impounded for behaving like an idiot, Hamilton is just another hoon as far as the police were concerned

The racist comment was incredibly rude.

We, along with Canada, lead the world in multiculturalism. I believe Sydney is in fact the most multicultural city in the world.

    Yet we are labeled racists?

I rate that 2nd place on the 'dumb scale' just behind the leading American guy i had a conference call with who thought i was in 'tomorrow' because it was Wednesday in Sydney but Tuesday in Houston.

Hamilton acted like a dickhead by doing what he did. When I was his age I would have acted much more like a dickhead! So would most of you. I was listening to a podcast this morning where the general opinion was that the FIA might feel that they should impose some kind of sanction against Lewis aswell. They were also saying that stuff like this and lie-gate really seem to effect Lewis mentally. If I was his manager I'd tell him to just chill and relax. It sounds like it was no biggy and nothing that we haven't all done.

Let he who hath never 'intentionally lost traction' cast the first stone!

Spinning wheels cant be a crime, why dont people stop trying to tell us all what to do. .... its hardly a big issue is it. Speed doesnt kill, nonchalence does...... spinning wheels doesnt kill, failure to control it does. Lewis, much as I cant stand him, just span some wheels in a tidy car - big deal - this is all nonsense.

The aussie cops are no better than weenies in the UK that flash their lights and raise their fists when I overtake them ( and I dont mean at 150mph in a 30 zone - but at 60 in a 60 zone because they slowed down to be able to tell their friends 'I held up a Ferrari today')

The worlds gone mad - everyone with no sonse of humour or green enviro-issues is suddenly a honorary traffic cop it seems today - stuff them all

Good post! I completely agree. I span the wheels on a Vauxhall Zafira last week. It was accidental so probably doesn't count as 'hoonery', but I imagine that if I drove a 400+bhp merc I would light up the tyres much more often. I have lost some respect for Lewis from this incident though. Not because of what he did, but because he apologised for it.

all that was learnt was that this forum can be very biased

My reference was NOT to the people of Australia. Only the individuals actually involved in racially charged incidents.
Australians are Great people and like most citizens of other countries are let down by a handfull of rogue people including politicians

Watching how some of the threads on FChat devolve is quite amazing. Hamilton spins is tire and someone becomes a "racist ****" for example.

IF I were a former World Champion, and IF I had a comped AMG for the weekend, and IF I was going to slide downtown and get a taste of the local gash......

I'd be easing that clutch out......

.....and slouching a little lower in the seat.

and yet the "****" who accused a country of being racist is still here and a guy who implied someone may be frugal with the truth is banned

nice backpedal by the "****", I'm sure the outrage from Americans would have demanded that person's country be bombed into oblivion if they had inferred the same status of being racist

    Big Tex ..... :D

If you deliberately do a burnout and fishtail along a public road in the UK you are deemed to comit an offence of Dangerous Driving as detailed by section 2A (1a) and 2A (1b) of the 1988 Road Traffic act:

    2 Dangerous driving:

A person who drives a mechanically propelled vehicle dangerously on a road or other public place is guilty of an offence.

    2A Meaning of dangerous driving:

    (1) For the purposes of sections 1 and 2 above a person is to be regarded as driving dangerously if (and, subject to subsection (2) below, only if)—

    (a) the way he drives falls far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver, and

    (b) it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous.

Technically this can also cover accidental wheelspin (but if it is obviously accidental it's very unlikely that you would be prosecuted).

Whether you like it or not, deliberate wheel spinning is illegal in the UK.

(I suspect also, that if you journey to a city in the USA and start doing burnouts in front of a traffic cop, he's not going to be applauding your driving display and giving you the thumbs up there either!).

The problem there though, is that this crap (Wheelspingate anyone?), is of his own making and he really should have known better. The amount of attention this incident has recieved is evidence enough of why he should avoid it in the first place.
