It was sunny for our run at least, now a little cloudy again. I caught up on emails, PM's, and posts after lunch, then went over to the casino. Jennie left her bank card at home, so I gave her one of mine for shopping and the one I was left with we didn't clear with the bank for Australia. After about the 5th ATM try I was getting a "access not authorized message". So looking in my skinny wallet all to be found was $60. The cheapest Black Jack table was $10, I'm actually proud that I made that $60 last almost 2 hours. My peak before the downfall was up about $100. It was good fun and entertaining for those hours. The guy next to me kept saying stuff like "my Ferrari needs a paint job" and "my Ferrari is at the service shop". I just couldn't motivate to ask if he really owned a Ferrari, I'm an odds man and I figured the response would be "no, do YOU have a Ferrari?". I walked back through the Queen Street Mall which had more shops and activity than I've seen yet, but nothing that interested me. Looks like the youth of Australia likes to hang out at the mall as much as the youth of America. We are booked for transport to Surfer's Paradise Friday for an all day trip. Really looking forward to that. We haven't decided what to do tomorrow up to the FChat dinner. I would love to do a Football or AFL match, but I imagine they're all at night. A local zoo would be really cool, but I think like the Steve Irwin is pretty far North for a cab. Ideas welcome how to fill our time tomorrow. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Even closer to town is Lone Pine Sanctuary ........ all the Australian animals you could want to see , hold and get your photo taken with. It's just a short boat (or car or bus or taxi) ride up the Brisbane river from the city ... Thy their web site http://www.koala.net/index.php http://www.koala.net/index.php/boat-cruise.html I have been there and it was about half price of Australia Zoo , , staff very knowledgeble and they don't talk to you like you have the IQ of a 5 year old.
Good to hear mate. You will LOVE the Gold Coast! Some Fchatters there, hopefully they contact you to catch up to say hello/show ya round. If they are available. Worst case, walk around Surfers, PLENTY to see and do there. Be sure to check the beach out, one of the best in the world. Also, Friday night there is a footy game in Brisbane, Suncorp Stadium. Gold Coast Titans V Sydney Roosters. 7.45pm kick off. I will be watching at home, would be nice to be there. Its a quarter-final game, so should draw a good crowd and be a good game.
that's a petting zoo !! Irwins is as close to a zoo as you will get, there are buses that make the trip every day get on-line and book the bus to Australia's Zoo, probably 1.5 hr trip
it's school holidays football matches are on the weekend, there's a game at Suncorp but it is an all ticket affair and the teams are crap .... go the Dragons hire a car and go the the wineries up on the Granite Belt, nice drive and the scenery is good plus a couple of national parks with great walks
Yes you must go to a Rugby League, our guys don't have girly helmets and pads As Pap said there is a match @ Suncorp Stadium on Friday it's a semi-final game as well so both teams will be playing for their lives.
