I just started my long overdue major service on my 1975 GT4

It has been 10 years and 13,583 miles! Just to be honest I did the timing belts twice and a bunch of other stuff in between. I am going to document my work and do another GT4 for dummies article which I may break into several sections. I will need lots of help and encouragement! Thanks to all that follow and participate in this great adventure for me!!

    All,

Everything is going well, however I noticed this dark carb throat. The color comes off easily but I am wondering what caused this? Backfire? To be honest it has been a couple of years since i had the air box cover off. I hope this is not a symptom of something more serious.

I have been messing around with my distributors for the last few years......

That carb throat goes to the power brakes, and typically needs to be adjusted a teeny bit richer at idle than the other throats. It actually looks to be correct, and the darkness would explain why you haven't noticed any backfires or sneezes.

+1 you will notice the plugs off that carb are usually a bit darker than the others as well.

I spoke with Rob last weekend. He's continuing to work and document but he is having major computer problems. He'll be back to us when Apple gets things straightened out for him.

I finally got my new computer which is awesome, but my mom went to the hospital on Sat and I am having to work harder at work, some 12 hour days which are stretching my time management skills. Next up remove the fuel tank and replace the booster and heater hoses..... :)

This 27" imac is fantastic but the new software and hardware is more complicated than any service procedure!! HAAA
