OK, here is where we help Robert in his quest to buy a Ferrari. Paint: Cars are damaged in transport when new, so to judge a car becasue it has had paintwork is not always accurate. It may not be due to an accident. Could be something minor. My Boxer has had paintwork, but during the PPI, we made sure it was nothing more than cosmetic. That requires an experienced eye, so thankfully I used to inpect many cars at dealer auctions and my car had no previous damage beyond probably valet dings and scratches. If you want a perfect car, and this is not always the case, buy a new F430. Make a deal with the buyer that does not want the car but only wants the quick profit, show up at the dealership when the car arrives from port, inspect it, pay the premium, and drive away. I know of three locals that did this and they are very happy. If you chose to continue your quest for a used Ferrari, just be patient. There are nice cars out there, but you will likely not be paying the price you want to pay, you will pay market. When you are looking at a car in the $175,000-$195,000 range, $10,000-$15,000 should not matter to you. If it does, you should not be looking at buying a limited production car like a Ferrari.
You have to start working for me Ron. If you can find me F430 Spiders for $ 175,000 plus minus $10,000...I will finally make money in this biz. Or did you mean $175,000 premium to the $220,000 ticket of the car? I hope I can get the deal done for Robert on his next car by the end of this week.
No, I meant 2002-2003 or so F360 Spiders. My point was if Robert found a really nice example, and the price was $195,000, but all he wanted to pay was $180,000, so if I understood Robert's dilemma, then my advise is either pay the extra $$, or stop looking for a Ferrari. There aren't that many F360's compared to Porsches, so the likelihood of another clean example coming along at the $180,000 are slim and none. I believe Ferrari pricing, all things being equal, is in ranges not in NADA specific numbers as would be a Porsche or Jaguar. Not sure if I made my point or not?
I forgot to add, F430 Spiders MSO for about $200,000, but depending on color and options, I have seen them from $240,000 to $300,000. Expect an average $50,000 premium. So in this case, if you really want an F430 now and are not on "the list", and you find the colors and options exactly as you want, then buy it at whatever premium you have to pay, or realize another example as you want may not come along and put your money in the stock market. That is the market nature of mid-engined Ferraris today (except for red F360 Challenge cars with broken derrieres).
Ron, That is one of the funniest things. I thought that you were kidding about the car thread. Anyway I am waitng on that car that makes me smile and say "This is the car" - the search continues.
This is becoming painful. So buy it already!!!! P.S. I found this car on the way home from Martin's yesterday, thought about you. If you are interested I have the seller's phone number: Image Unavailable, Please Login

Speaking for myself, of course ... I want ALL of them!!! Well, at least until some rap/sports star paints his with some fashion insignia and then adds a 2 million watt stereo with 40" subwoofers and 30" wheels with spinners - I'd probably take the pass on that one Scottie www.TheCarcierge.com A secure, climate controlled, car storage facility
Dan, - Please help me !!!!!! Is the Red. Black the same car that Andy and I saw on the Friday night??? It had red inserts in the large racing seats??? The car was sold and taken on a flat bed. I love that freakin car! Send me an e-mail on the details: [email protected] don't forget the friends and family discount !!!!! you can call me on my cell at 11:30am. I am stepping into a meeting
Actually it looks OK to me. I was more concerned with the paint chips on the drivers side door mirror.
robert and i ran into 2 interesting vee-hick-llls today. when it rains, it pours. i got a good feelin' about this. (then again, i have been saying that for about 4 months.)
So what is the update Robert? Find a car? I say, keep 'um both! Use the Porsche for a daily driver, the Ferrari when you want to impress. :}
I solved your problem Robert, found a car at a local dealership that will allow you to own a Ferrari and take your entire family with you to all the SSF events. It is a little tacky, but who cares if you like it: Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can always repaint the car. The real problem is that that thing is not fitting in your garage, Porsche or no Porsche and a garage lift won't help you in the least. Andy
