Ok I was ticked when the Eagle went off the air and I had to find a new radio station. The void was filled by 102.1 the Edge 93.3 the bone and the endless repeat of sweet home alabama on KZPS

Well KZPS just became a country and western station...
The Eagle became Sunny and now is a Spanish station...

Now people wonder why Sirus and XM are gaining marketshare???

It died for me when DFW lost KZEW,Q102, & ZROCK. North Texas radio will never be the same again.

+1 for me. The day the music died. Maybe not that quite dramatic.

Well if anyone wants to relive the early 90s Chris Cornell is playing a solo gig at the Palladium in Dallas on Friday night.

Setlist from a concert 2 days ago was:

    Cochise (Audioslave)
    Original Fire (Audioslave)
    Outshined (Soundgarden)
Say Hello To Heaven (Temple of the Dog) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs3o-6xIxag) 3rd time played live...ever!
    No Such Thing (solo)
    You Know My Name (solo)
    Like A Stone (Audioslave)
    Fell On Black Days (Sounsgarden)
    Seasons (solo)
    Can't Change Me acoustic (solo)
Blow Up The Outside World - acoustic (Soundgarden)
Doesn't Remind Me 1/2 acoustic (Audioslave)
    Spoonman (Soundgarden)
    Safe & Sound (solo)
    What You Are (Audioslave)
    Rusty Cage (Soundgarden)

    Encore 1:
    Burden In My Hand (Soundgarden)
    Ghost (solo)
    Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden)

    Encore 2:
Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog)
    Slaves and Bulldozers (Soundgarden)

I won Meet and Greet backstage passes and some tickets so I will be making the journey from Louisiana for the concert to see with friends and family. Show is sold out but even the Fchat sponsor who sells concert tickets has several online for about $15 above face value.

I like the new format. Let's face it, one can only hear "Hot Legs" and "Hotel California" so many times.

I just realized that this thread is about KZPS going country... my gawd, the trail of blood and carnage that follows "The Bo and Jim Show" is staggering.

    Dave, got your PM

Apparently the backstage meet and greet takes 30 minutes after the concert. But only my best friend and I have passes, so my cousin is just going to have to locate a watering hole nearby and wait it out, lol.

My cousin lives in downtown Ft. Worth, so that is where we will be staying. So I would imagine we will all go out somewhere down there after the concert.

Regardless, we will meet up at the venue for sure and just play it by ear!

Agreed.. Bo and Jim are still there as well as John Dillon and Redbeard too. It's not a bad format. Good mix of honky tonk country and classic rock. It's kinda like a trip to Adair's every day of the week. Pretty cool to hear Willie Nelson doing plugs between songs too.

Don't you know that contemporary country is the new rock...it has the story telling lyrics, guitar land drum solos, ect..that the rock of the 60s and 70s were famous for...I know that's about all listen to anymore...

All this old radio station talk stirred some memories. I'll go back to the 60's and remember KLIF - downtown at N. Central and Jackson. It was a triangle piece of land bordered by 3 streets, and the DJ's broadcast from the 2nd floor, where you could see them throught the big plate glass windows. You woke up to Charlie and Harrigan, Granny Emma, and then Ron Chapman. Everyone would honk as they were passing, and they would give a wave and sometimes a shout out on the air. $.29 premium and cruising Forest Lane. Life was simpler back then.

Is it just me or is the morning show on 102.1 the absolute worst ever ?
When I was 13 this humor was beneath me.

Amen. I quit listening to the Edge in the morning when Jagger, Mondo, Dean, et al got fired and they hired those new jackasses.. Usually listen to Kidd Kradduck or podcasts on my morning commute now..

You guys are a little far north so it will take some more time. But just wait till all the good stations are replaced with Tejano music stations. It's coming your way.

All your radio are belong to us.....

Just for kicks, I noted what played during my commute to work on the new Lone Star 92.5.

    Lynard Skynard
    .38 Special
    Lyle Lovette
    Georgia Satellites
    George Thoroughgood
    Stevie Ray Vaughan
    Grateful Dead
    Pat Green
    John Mellencamp
    ZZ Top
    Slobberbone
    Creedence Clearwater Revival
    Blues Brothers
    David Allan Coe
    Steve Miller Band
    Steve Earle
    Black Crowes

Hell, there's nothing wrong with that lineup. It's still basically classic rock, but with some of the newer southern rock/country rock thrown in.

    Same here.
Now I listen to 90.1 KERA Publik radio.
Takes awhile for the "liberal" to fade out of me after its turned off but it allows an alternative veiw.
    I feel any entertainment follows the computer programers credo;
    "Garbage in, garbage out."
