Stroll gets the best place of a Mercedes engined car in this race ;)
In the last races I honestly think Stroll has improved.

Stroll is getting better and better. He wasn't just in cruise mode, he was racing the whole afternoon. And kept a cool head under pressure.

Lance could have won today, new slicks not properly heated with lighter than usual car due to a half empty fuel tank caused lots of wheel spin. I think scrubbed slicks that had a few laps might have been better for this standing start. Clearly tires weren’t up to temp even at the second chicane, where he couldn’t stop and ran the chicane.

Afterwards Lance drove a great race often lapping faster than the leaders.

This Monza 2020 race was reminiscent of Baku 2017......drama for the top teams.

It happens once in a great while but when it does, it's pickings for the few that get to see a podium.

He was completely gifted a pit stop because the rules are unfair and still got beaten by slower cars...

One thing you can’t say about him is that he’s unlucky. Guess he and Vettel balance each other

    https://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/29824995/italian-grand-prix-was-my-race-lose

Lance Stroll admitted he let a first Formula One win slip through his fingers at the Italian Grand Prix, where he had to settle for third position.

Stroll was second on the grid at the mid-race restart but had a slow getaway, dropping behind eventual winner Pierre Gasly on the run down to Turn 1. Gasly inherited the lead once Lewis Hamilton served a 10-second stop-go penalty and held off McLaren's Carlos Sainz for the victory.

For Stroll, it was a second F1 podium finish, but the Canadian driver was left thinking of what might have been.

"It has been a couple of years since I stood on the podium, so it feels good to be back, and it was such a crazy race," Stroll said. "I am so happy for Pierre, he really deserved it as he had a really great start. He stayed consistent all the way throughout the race.

"It is a bit of a bummer. I think it was kind of mine to lose starting from second, but I just had no grip at the start. "I had a ton of wheelspin and everyone flew by me.

"I had a good scrap with Carlos on the first couple of laps, and I overtook around the outside, but he got me again down into Turn 1.

"We were battling out there, so I am happy to pick up third. I think the win slipped away from us today, but third is great."

Stroll said the mid-race intermission, prompted by Charles Leclerc's big crash at the final corner, was hard to adjust to.

"It's bizarre, you've got to reset. We're not used to that intermission halfway through the race."

With only Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen in front of Lance in the points, I think Lance’s consistent performance is proving he more than deserves his seat at Racing Point.
If he continues this way he will be the best Mercedes driver not in a factory Mercedes team car. If Mercedes has an empty seat you never know if he could be drafted by Toto. 21 year old Lance has definitely out performed Russell (even if you compare both of them when at Williams). At least as good as Perez who is ten years older and is no longer a “young star” but still a great driver. That leaves Ocon who Lance has outperformed and although he is managed by Toto he is contracted to Renault and could be complicated. Stay tuned naysayers.

I am not too sure about that.

I think I read that Mercedes severed all links with Ocon when he accepted the Renault drive.

    Do you know different ?

Mclaren are ahead and adding 15pts back to Clone Point would still leave them behind. Amazed that Mclaren are so strong vs the Mercedes clone. Pink Clones need better race strategy etc. They appear to fall back after qualy. Mclaren are strangely strong in both with less power lol.

You are right. I must say that I enjoy the McLaren revival.
Recruiting Seidl was a breakthrough, I think.
Also, I expect more next year when the will get the Mercedes power units.

This is a very professional team Mclaren. If they can take the new Mercedes PU and refine their aero with solid strategy............wow lol :)

quite exceptional a drive for a driver who has been pretty beaten up on the thread. But the drive of the day was Pierre Gasly, demoted from the #1 Red Bull team to the '2d string', and a sensational drive to hold off a much more experienced driver in a very fast car who will next season partner Charles Leclerc in red cars.

Surprised at all the decent comments in here today. I don't mind the guy but dare to be a little critical.

Today we saw a much better lance than we normally do on race day. He beat his team mate, the newer mercedes bottas, and got lucky but finished ahead of hamilton. He made some passes and held his spot quiet well. Super job saving his car on a big lock up.

With that being said he got lucky with a dumb rule to finish where he did. It was also clear his racing may be shy of some other young lads. We saw that with 1st and 2nd ahead of him.

Happy for his result but with the vehicle and lucky break this should have been a 2nd or a win. Again being critical. God job either way from the Canuck.

wrong! 'dumb rule' is a foolish comment. the rule is an absolute necessity - without it when the pits are closed you'll have multiple pit-related accidents.

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm referring to the ability to change tires during a red flag not Hamiltons penalty.
