I think lawrence Stroll will succeed because he has the financial means, plus he is the only decision-maker, and he will be ruthless in the event of a bad result.
The most efficient form of government is a king/dictator. Assuming the sole executive knows what he is doing. So far Stroll Sr. is doing pretty darn well. A LOT better than Vijay. And possibly better than Binotto, although that might not be saying much.
So hire, fire in quick fashion. That is not a formulae for success but dis-content. He can hire who he wants. The big 3 teams have the edge already. This is a marketing platform first in my opinion. Good results will be nice to have but if he does not sell Aston vehicles then he will have much resources tied up in a team. Cloning was a shortcut. Their strategy calls are weak on a good day and they do not appear as technically competent as Mclaren with the weaker PU.
With a stronger PU the aero issues at Ferrari would be minimized. For now they suffer both. Stroll can do all he wants, but a political change at Mercedes and he is without so much cooperation. If they do not improve next year............................

After 4 years in F1 lol Lance with a copy of Mercedes is not the driver Norris is in a Renault powered McLaren. Lance failed when Prez was out and Nico led the team not Lance! https://www.planetf1.com/news/andreas-seidl-lando-norris-mistakes/
[ QUOTE] "I was surprised they withdrew, because he was going to go through with it to clear their name of any wrongdoing," explained Brown. "So big change, they withdrew. That was inconsistent with what he said his intentions were." [/QUOTE] I'm pretty sure that Lawrence has been counseled to avoid speaking in public in general, but particularly in F1, because he is very short temper. I personally made him burst into anger with a simple "why?". Reposting once again this photo to remember that memorable weekend: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Stroll admits during a press conference today that British Racing Green will be the color of choice for 2021. Say goodbye to BWT pink Maybe goodbye to BWT altogether.
Glad to see the color pink gone. Never liked that on a race car. British Racing Green sounds fabulous. Lotus Martini comes to mind.
No idea. I guess they never were part of Motor Racing in the early days? I wouldn't know for many countries, eg. most of South America, Australia, all of Africa. AFAIK only the central European countries plus USA have colors.
It's there! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_auto_racing_colours Canada Traditional colours are British racing green with two white parallel stripes (4" wide and 6" apart) After the Canadian flag was changed in 1965 Red with wide lengthwise white stripes became popular I thought that maybe Lawrence Stroll would like to show the Canadian ownership of the F1 team.
Just read an article in the Euro press. Apparently lots of (British) fans are looking forward to see the brand of Aston Martin in F1 and especially in the green colors. Looks to me as if the Racing Point team will get a big boost in popularity next season. Just wait and see.
Even if I have some reservation about Vettel onboard, I am looking forward to it. Aston Martin could become a leading team in future. Regarding the 2021 livery. Apparently a proposal for next year combining the Racing Green with some Pink has been turned down. BWT (one of the sponsors) wants more pink in it. I kid you not !!
I can very well imagine that. Companies protect their brands and colors are often a part of it. Maybe they should do the two faced Mild Seven look Villeneuve drove. One side pink, the other green. Ah, nevermind, the FIA outlawed that.
Not his fault really. First Q2 was curtailed by Spinmaster Seb and then the car broke down when they lined up for the final run. Not much he could do at that point. Glad it made you happy.
Stroll explains pit lane problem that robbed him of final Q2 run on ‘tough day' in Sochi Image Unavailable, Please Login Lance Stroll was forced to play spectator in the second half of qualifying for the 2020 Russian Grand Prix, after an overheating issue on his Racing Point RP20 ruled him out of the final runs in Q2. But even without the issue, the Canadian driver admitted that he hadn’t been in the groove around the Sochi Autodrom so far this weekend. Stroll had ended up a disappointing 17th in Free Practice 2, and trailed team mate Sergio Perez across all three free practice sessions, despite running a significantly updated aerodynamic package compared to the Mexican. But any chance Stroll had to deliver a riposte to Perez in qualifying was taken away in Q2 when, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel having brought out the red flags after crashing at Turn 4, Stroll was forced to switch off his engine while queuing in the pit lane for his final run in the segment, his mechanics wheeling him back into the garage and out of the session. “It was a tough day,” said Stroll, with Perez having gone on to claim an impressive P4 for the team. “We were all set for the final few minutes of Q2 and raring to go after the red flag. Sadly, the engine was overheating while we were in the fast lane so we took the precaution of switching off the car. “It’s frustrating because we’ve made it into Q3 consistently this year. I’ve not quite found my rhythm here yet; I just need to put together the finer details and come back stronger tomorrow. It’s not easy to overtake here, but we have a quick race car. If we can get a good start and make some early progress, then it’s all to play for in terms of points.” Meanwhile, Racing Point CEO and Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer admitted that Stroll had been left in the pit lane queue for a lengthy period due to the team attempting to “second guess” when the red flag period would end – adding that the Canadian “deserved more” from his Saturday in Russia. “We tried to second guess when the session would restart,” said Szafnauer. “Unfortunately, the power unit was overheating and we asked Lance to switch the car off. He deserved more from today, but he will be strong tomorrow, and at least he will get a free choice of tyres for the start of the race.” A good recovery drive from Stroll would be very welcome from his team on Sunday, meanwhile, with Racing Point currently 14 points adrift of third-placed rivals McLaren in the constructors’ standings – with the Woking team having got both of their drivers into Q3 – with eight races left to run this season. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.stroll-explains-pit-lane-problem-that-robbed-him-of-final-q2-run-on-tough.5qWiMOSyj2VC80YflZ7Dsa.html
Yw. Lance is on his 3rd component allocation allotment. He's not going to make 8 races without incurring grid penalties.
Doesn't matter if you're not in the WDC hunt. Which at this point nobody really is anymore. Including Hamilton. They should just hand him the trophy. Oh the drama Sky and Hamilton created for the qualifying. Like anything matters anymore. He's got the title already. Short of falling down a flight of stairs.
Lance and Charles touch on Lap 1. A racing incident, can't say much more than that. Strong performance by Checo, I would like to see what he can do with the updated Tracing Point.
Stewards didn't do anything either since it was a racing incident. In a way I want to blame Charles but OTOH Lance makes aggressive moves at the start and something like that would happen eventually. That's the consequence of a botched qualifying. Oh well. Move on.
