agreed And on a brighter note: Stroll beat Vettel again today. Sadly the team brought him in way too early for tire change, oh well.
Was very impressed with him at the start of the race today. He's not a great wheel to wheel guy in the races (since he tends to just drive around until the end), but damn, at the start he showed he certainly IS capable of doing just that. Why does he not do that during the rest of the race? He was back to Stroll the legend of the thread title at the end where he crashed into Vettel at the closing stages...very lucky both got away without much damage.
His start was brilliant. Then the team called him in too early. Looked great to undercut Russell but ultimately damaged his race. Vettel was nowhere to be seen the whole race long. Only when the rain came, did he wake up and challenged Stroll who ultimately beat him to the finish line.
What I want to know is why does it always look like he’s CONSTANTLY correcting the steering with those little left/right inputs?!! Was again very obvious from the on-board shots today. It always looks like he’s bent a tie rod or track rod and can’t keep the car straight. Seems to me he’s surprised by the steering feedback and trying to correct a ghost issue. He looks like he’s not a ease with the speed and is always a tenth of a second behind the car which explains a lot of his mistakes.
Sochi 2021 Stroll receives a 10-second time penalty for his clash with Gasly. He also gets two penalty points, bringing his total up to 8 in the last 12 months.
Both not in the points at Sochi 2021. Vettel still.leads Stroll in the WDC standings. btw, Tsunoda isn't that far behind Stroll in the points and Tsunoda has done alot of rookie mistakes.
Stroll continues to demonstrate his lack of spatial awareness. What is the status of Seb's P2 in Hungary?
Something many on here didn't think was going to happen. Remember all the comments about Stroll being the worst and most untalented driver ever with whom Vettel is going to wipe the floor? Hmm...
Stroll four points away from ban after Sochi penalty https://www.planetf1.com/news/lance-stroll-10-second-penalty-russia/
Not really the case. Because Vettel was so crap last year, a lot of us—me included—were predicting this year would be a toss-up between the two of them. Which is, in fact, what is happening.
Narrative started to change last year thereabouts. Stroll WAS awful, absolutely undeniable. He started to become a solid mid field driver last year. Most of the thread since then is people who have been saying "Vettel sucks" for the past few years, bumping this thread whenever Stroll edges him. Reasonable explanations/arguments are ignored (such as Vettels DSQ from P2), only the stats for wikipedia count.
More like Turn 2 of Lap 1. He has always been good at the start. Thereafter if he manages a clean DRS pass it is an achievement.
