Realistically, what can you do with $40B that you can't do with $4B ??

Stroll better than Vettel? OK, let's look at the points right now: VET leads STR 35-24 in the same car.
Oh, that's not fair? OK, let's look at career: VET leads STR 4 Driver Championships to 0.

also, watching lap 48 from Russia, Stroll gets asked "Can you stay out?" and he says "Yes" and immediately slides sideways into the wall.

Looking at the points right now don’t even take in account Vettels second place which was DQ by a team error, or Italy were stroll pushed Vettel of track which made Vettel loosing a lot of places, or Soschi were Stroll made contact with Vettel.

    Vettel is just to polite.

Stroll appears strong against a definite weaker/older Vettel. An illusion is strong in this scenario. Anyone willing to hire Stroll? I would not. Lacking funding does he ever get seat lol?????? Also who wants Vettel now? Aston and thats it - it appears. One more season. Thats what is left for Vettel I feel.

    Sounds about right.

And many, many more seasons for Lance. Can't wait to see him in an improved Aston Martin once their new factory is up and running.

Factory can only build what the engineers tell them to, or what they can copy from others;)

Certainly. But the mere fact that they are building a sizeable new place tells me they will eventually also hire the talented engineers. These things will take time (just look at how long it took MB to get up to speed) but I'm sure Stroll has the resources and the determination. And Lance is still young, so they are definitely playing the long game and I love that about them. Total dedication.

Firstly, almost every team—except maybe AT—has as impressive installations already. And another new factory will not necessarily guarantee success or attract talent.

Stroll Sr. is using other people’s money to build up the company’s value so he can sell for a big gain—it’s what he does. Stroll Jr., unless AM luck into designing a rocketship next year, will never win anything and we can expect he’ll be gone when the team is sold.

As for an improved AM, I dare say that they already have a good car (copied from, and with the engine from the championship leading Merc) and although they’ve not been able to develop the car well enough, the poor results this year are mostly down of the drivers. There’s no way the AM is worse than the Ferrari, Alpine or AT.

Exactly. Ever larger state of the art factories, star drivers, boatloads of money are not guarantees of success. Even all those 3 combined. Hell, we see it at Ferrari, still! Honda tried, Toyota tried, BMW tried, Renault tried.

Will Aston win a race? Perhaps...but flukes happen. Ocon won a race just a few weeks ago, Gasly won last year in Monza. No one is calling those teams front runners or anything near that.

Will Aston be regular win contenders? Unless they find a double diffuser style trick in the regulations, no. Mercedes, Red Bull, Mclaren, Ferrari...even Renault/Alpine are looking pretty strong for 2022.

In fairness show me one team owner who has not fought both sides of the same issue when it was convenient for them. It is part of the job no matter how brown your nose is :)

Also who is dumb enough to bite the hand that feeds them. Except of course for Dan Ticktum. :D

All true. I don't blame him for brown-nosing but when he calls Stroll as one of the most gifted in F1...well he deserves to be laughed at!

I don't care how much one hates or loves Stroll, if you look at him with both eyes open, he's doing a decent job these days, but sure as hell nothing special. He raised his game for sure, and he genuinely was awful in his first season. But to call him ''one of the most gifted"? No.

Imagine all drivers in the field and real contenders are not under contract. You set up a team. You hire 2 drivers, you don't need their sponsor money. Would anyone seriously consider Stroll? Unless it's Canada National F1 team, I don't think so. Forget the top of the top drivers like Leclerc, Verstappen, Hamilton, Alonso. Still no one would pick Stroll.

    agreed on that part

A rather bizarre and meaningless scenario since the sport is based on economics. Without bucks, no Buck Rogers. If drivers hadn't gotten money from somewhere, the history books would not show WDC names like Mansell, Lauda, Senna, Piquet and Schumacher.
And those are just the obvious big hitters who needed cash to get into F1. Then there are all the others who have been forgotten but who only made it into F1 with $ as well. So to pick on Lance for that is, well, ignoring the very history and financial foundations the sport is built on.
