Because he sucks and there are 100 other drivers that should probably deserve a shot by now? Lance being outscored by Alonso by 94 points so far is horrible. If the team had another 40 points, they would still be second in the championship. Aston Martin has pretty much no chance against Mercedes, and is at risk of being overtaken by Ferrari who have been awful this year. That's a mighty big failure and worth tens of millions of dollars.

You are missing the whole point: The sole reason AM F1 racing exists is because of Lance. Without Lance, there would be no interest for Stroll Sr. to put any $ into the team and they would have already gone under.

Lawrence Stroll thinks like a father should do, IMO. In similar circumstances, I would do exactly the same.
I wouldn't sacrifice my son, just to please the critics, but back him all the way !!!
I would guess that Lawrence Stroll can afford to lose "tens of millions of dollars" to have Lance in its team.
Those who think only in financial terms have no heart; and may not understand the beauty of a father loving his son.

And how do you think that Lawrence Stroll amassed his considerable wealth, making decisions by thinking with his heart or by thinking in financial terms?

How do you know that Lawrence Stroll is motivated by "the beauty of a father loving his son", do you know him personally or are you projecting?

Yes, Stroll Sr may have been very ruthless to build his business, but this is his family we are talking about.
I don't know anything; I only express what I would do if I was in the same situation.
I presume that Lawrence Stroll wouldn't like to replace Lance by another driver, "just to score points".
He may well enjoy watching his son racing, even if he isn't perfect, as I surely would if I was in his position.

I didn't miss the point. I was replying to "Also, I cannot understand the insistence some have that Lance should be dropped from his father's team" specifically.

Sure, Aston Martin may not be part of F1, but do you really think that some other billionaire wasn't going to buy racing point? Maybe it would be better, we don't know.

2018 was a failure, 2019 was a failure, 2020 was a failure, 2021 was a failure, 2022 was a failure. 2023 was started as a huge success with Alonso and only Alonso, now has quickly started to become a failure.

Aston Martin had more success having their sticker on the Red Bulls.

If you think spoiling your kid to this extent is being a good father or a good businessman, then that is quite alarming.

"Come and join the Aston Martin F1 Team!"

"Where family precedent has a higher priority over coming in 1st place in the Championship standings, or 2nd place or actually 3rd place......actually 4th isn't so bad if you think about it!

    .........please.

Well if its tennis he was wanting he has wasted his chance for such a move lol! I saw something 2 days ago about this rumor. His evolution has stalled. Croft is not alone in thinking this at all. :)

If Lance Stroll packs up at the end of next year ( and this is very hypothetical), he will have achieved more than many that tried F1.
He had a go, got some results and has nothing to be ashamed of, IMO.

Hiring Vettel and then Fernando has more than offset any financial drain Lance had made on the team and AM in general.

The journos fill the summer silence with this sort of drivel. I don't see how Lance can ever move on from F1 without Lawrence branding his career as a massive success? He (Lawrence) has painted himself into a corner as far as Lance goes.

He needed someone to score points as Lance was not doing enough and Lance could learn from them. They were tutors lol

Yes, Lou Stanley (BRM boss) even wrote in his memoirs that he was still waiting for Lauda's last instalments.
Niki apparently stopped paying for his seat at BRM as soon as he had signed at Ferrari.
