Almost unnoticed in the aftermath of the US GP, Lance Stroll, 9th on the track, is now classed 7th following 2 disqualifications. Well done Lance !!! Collecting 6 points after a difficult weekend.
Gasly has now passed Lance Stroll in the WDC standings....in a Renault aka Alpine powered car......which no one wants their PU......fyi.
Wasn't unnoticed by me. That was the first thing I thought of when I learned about the DQ: More points for Lance. That said, the DQ are still silly given that they had to drive the cars in the sprint and shootout as well on a crappy surface with parc ferme regulations.
I thought it was a good result for Lance who finished ahead of 2 Alpha Tauri, 2 Williams, 2 Haas, 2 Alfa Romeo among the finishers. You have to admit he did well.
I thought it was a good result for Lance who finished ahead of 2 Alpha Tauri, 2 Williams, 2 Haas, 2 Alfa Romeo among the finishers. Not exactly 4 teams to brag about finishing ahead of.
Before COTA2023, Lance Stroll had not scored a single point in the previous 4 races.........none.......nada........zilch.
That question is loaded with ALOT of variables. At what time of the season was that expectation of competing with RedBull, Ferrari and Mercedes? How did Lance's teammate do as far as competing with RedBull, Ferrari and Mercedes and at which part of the season? Lance's teammate has scored points ALL THE WAY up to COTA2023 where Alonso was forced to retire the car. That's 19(actually 18) races of scoring points for AMRF1.
You are completely mislead here; Lance isn't in the same league as twice WDC Alonso. You cannot expect the same results. I thought it was obvious.
Riiiiiight.......didn't Lance have the 2nd fastest car in the beginning to middle part of the season according to his team-mate? But you're right, I expect WAAAAY TOO MUCH from Lance even if he had the 2nd fastest car at some point in the season.
The car, which you said was the second best, is actually 5th in the WCC ranking. You cannot judge a car or a team from a couple of flattering results. After the initial euphoria, Aston Martin's form has gone down like a lead balloon. Even Alonso cannot do much with it.
I'll agree with that but a "couple of flattering results"(?????) So in essence, you're saying Alonso had 2 very good races in the AMR23 in the beginning of the season? Ummmm, I beg to differ. It's been since race 14 that the AMR23 has dropped off its performance with the top 3 and Alonso as well BUT Alonso had scored points irregardless after 18 races...but Lance couldn't score points then CONSISTENTLY and cannot score points now CONSISTENTLY.....but I'm fooling myself for such expectations. Whether Lance has a top 2 car or a top car or a backmarker car, you're always gonna get lack luster performance from Lance.
Couple is a figure of speech in this context = some flattering results I think you are fooling yourself, try to be more realistic. You want Lance out of F1, but there is nothing you can do about it.
In my opinion, Aston Martin has regressed since they introduced some "updates". Even Alonso struggles. Having said that, I also think Gasly is a better driver than Stroll.
The conditions today at Interlagos must have suited Lance Stroll: he finished 3rd in Qualifications !!! Lance is even in front of his illustrious team mate Alonso !!! Well done !!!
Well yes, he's in front of Alonso....... P3 vs P4 and the times were: Stroll 1:11.384 Alonso 1:11.387 First time in 2023 Stroll has OUTQUALIFIED Alonso without any DNF's.
It's fascinating how weird conditions like today is when Lance Stroll really shines. Give him credit, he did a great job. Not sure why he looked so unhappy in the post race interviews. Kind of funny he says they are shooting for a podium, and then goes onto say they don't even have the 3rd best car.
He can dine out on that qualy ...for ever ..will it ever happen again v Alonso? However fair play he did it.
