Stroll fails to make it to SQ2 with 33 seconds left and a Red Flag. Alonso makes it to SQ2. Go figure with Lance Stroll.

Today, Lance drove extremely well, didn't make contact with anyone, and did a sensible race. He did beat the Mercedes team, the last Ferrari and plenty of other cars to finish 5th and you find that negative ?
I think they may have dropped some of their upgrades, or perhaps got enough data to better dial the cars. I am glad Aston Martin is back.
He lost 2 places from his qualifying. That's a negative in my book. Alonso gained a place from his qualifying.
Weird thing is Mercedes was nowhere near the Aston pace during this race and miles quicker one week before .. Only Red Bull and at a lesser extent Mclaren understand this Formula right now.
You see negative when it suits you. Should we talk about the places Leclerc lost from his qualifying ?
Mercedes tyre strategy was a mess today, and their cars seemed to go backwards. The Mercedes era has ended, IMO.
Leclerc has a Ferrari issue going on....as well as other talented drivers have had for the past 15 years. What does Leclerc have to do with Stroll? Stroll has 1 or 2 good races throughout the year and the praise he gets is just UNBELIEVABLE. Alonso is consistent when the car is consistent i.e. upgrades......but he still manages to bring in points regardless.
"Interesting" is a 2 sided coin....it depends on which side of that coin a "discerning F1 follower" is standing.
Mercedes is certainly not the slick team they were from 2014 until 2020. Red Bull has taken over that role at the top.
I'll praise Stroll for a good race today. I do not understand why he isn't happy in the post race interviews. His bland arrogant personality just doesn't make him a likeable guy.
