Stroll doesn't disappoint whether he's handicapped with his hands at the beginning of the season or he's by himself and shunts it. At least a rookie driver in his 1st time in a Ferrari didn't disappoint in the race.
Aston Martin potential continues to drop. Good thing they will develop the car to suit Stroll just like they did last year. Maybe they can outdo themselves and drop themselves to one of the bottom 3 teams.
After 2 races in, Stroll is not even in the top 10 in the WDC standings. Alonso currently is #7 and Ollie Bearman is in 10th place in the WDC standings and he's only had 1 race and a rookie!!!...behind Hamilton by 2pts!!
Well, what is so surprising there? We all know that Alonso is more talented than Lance, and so probably will be Bearman. But I still like him.
As long as I understand your sympathy for Lance we have to say he really doesn’t improve anymore.. Aston Martin is regressing compared with last year and Alonso realistically will soon fight for 8-9 . Honestly can they afford right now a useless second car to score some points ?
Funny. You sound more worried by Aston Martin progress than they are themselves. I think they will still finish in the top half of the WCC; 5th probably.
Indeed, far from the initials objectives set by Lawrence himself. Car is absolutely aesthetically beautiful and it would be a shame for this team to disappear because of bad results.
I think that Lawrence Stroll had a reality check: money alone doesn't buy success. People got too euphoric after Alonso early results last season. The car is probably the 4th faster car this year and Alonso could regularly get in the points. I don't see the AMF1 team under threat of oblivion, but it will take time to improve significantly.
Which maybe is fine for the boss. For the rest of the team, I can imagine it’s pretty demotivating to watch their hard work go for naught on one side of the garage.
Teamwork doesn't exit on the track but everywhere else in AMRF1 it most certainly does. The hypocrisy!!
Oh c'mon! You waited for the end of the second race to post this. It wasn't true after one race where Lance was in the top 10 and Bearman not. What does any of this show? That you can't make a driver comparison after two races, simply too few data points to be relevant. Lance comfortably made top ten last year and chances are good he'll do that again this year.
Any proof of all of this, or is it just your imagination ? If some people feel demotivated working at AMF1 because of Lance, they can always leave.
Time to find a new 'day job'. Enough. He is just not F1 quality at all. Aston ARE NOT serious if they keep him LONGER. Questions re-emerge over Stroll after latest error Image Unavailable, Please Login Could, or should, Stroll be nearing the end of his F1 career? Photo by: Andy Hone / Motorsport Images We probably have Lance Stroll to thank for ensuring that there was a bit more tactical latitude across the race in Jeddah, as it’s likely that the field would have been locked into a switch to the hard tyres at around lap 20, give or take a few tours as teams attempt to cover each other off. The Canadian’s Turn 22 shunt instead prompted a few split strategies, as a few drivers attempted to extend their medium stints. As early as lap six, Stroll found that his medium tyres had started to get away from him having run them ragged in the opening laps attempting to put distance between himself and the Tsunoda-Bearman battle behind. But it’s more likely a convenient excuse for repeating his FP1 brush with the Turn 21 inside wall – although this time, he bent the front suspension and careened into the barrier on the other side of the road. It hadn’t been a particularly great weekend for Stroll up to that point. He’d been well off Fernando Alonso’s pace in qualifying and, although he’d made a strong start to pull clear of Tsunoda off the line, his latest prang undid that good work. It just looked a bit amateurish, and not particularly befitting of someone in his eighth season of F1. But at least he brings an element of chaos. Which is... something.
I’ll resist my Temptation to remind you I said it’s Just My Imagination running away with me. I wasn’t purporting to provide testimony here.
He said that he's going into "reset mode" before Australia, whatever that means. I feel like that is plenty reassuring -- he'll be in good shape then.
And what about the radio communication with his engineer: when asked if he come bring the car back to the pits, the tone of his response sounding like “I’m in the wall [duh!]” was something you’d expect of a bratty teenager.
