Nah, that was a dopey question. He was already one wheel short at that time, so there is no way to get that car back safely. Would have been insane to even try.

As I recall Lance told his engineer that he hit the wall. His engineer asked if he could get it back to the pits? Lance said, "I'm in the effing wall".

    Well done Lance Stroll !
He will start 9th in the Australian GP, having qualified ahead of Alonso and Hamilton ! .
I wish him luck in the race.

In the race I expect FA to be ahead and possibly LH. Lance needs a solid race and outpace both.

I show support for Stroll, just like you do for Ferrari. But, unlike you I don't expect miracles. :p

Are you happy with Hamilton joining Ferrari next year ?

If this allow Ferrari to recruit Newey then yes..
To be honest I have some serious doubts about his own future competitiveness..
    We will see..

Why would Newey prefer to work with a ageing driver in a team that hasn't won a championship for years, rather than an existing world champion in a winning team ?
It doesn't make sense to me; but perhaps I am too cold and logical here.

Hopefully he won't take his teammate out, Lance v Yuki could be entertaining?

Solid race performance by Stroll and Alonso. Nicely scoring points for the team.

You bet I'm gonna follow that story, for better or for worse. Watching him is one of my key interests in F1 at this point. Particularly when almost everything else is so predictable (Melbourne GP being a notable exception, at least for about 3+1 laps).

I find Yuki vs. Danny Ric more interesting.

Was Lance racing today? Pretty much zero mention of him the entire race.

I think most of us just know that he's in the race doing what he does best which is why there's no mention of him.

Yes, he ran faultlessly and finished 6th. A solid performance showing what he is capable of.

He ran faultlessly and finished behind Alonso. A 20 second penalty to Alonso doesn't make Stroll's performance any better.

He drove well and finished where this car can finish with a non WDC driver. In that sense he did a lot better than e.g. Ricciardo (way past his sell date) or some others.

He for sure drove better than Ricciardo. I don't think he "showed what he was capable of" in the sense he is a star. It's almost another reality check. He drove the best he can and was still 10+ seconds behind Alonso who started behind him and had a scruffy weekend.

Not disagreeing with that but Alonso is a tall order as a teammate. Many other drivers would look equally "bad" next to him. No wonder Merc wants him as a Lewis replacement.

If the rumor becomes true and Yuki will be Lance's teammate, things should be a lot more equal.
