It is always hard to predict what the rest of the season will look like. All of the teams are so close in the mid to upper mid field that one good development on the car can change the overall results a lot. We have seen this with McLaren. Of course with everyone developing their cars performance is totally relative. A lot of people forget that the rate of development in F1 is so fast that the car that is on pole in the first race would easily qualify last towards the end of the season if it were not developed.
The FIA shared a document showing that Lance Stroll had to visit the stewards for a very remarkable reason. The Canadian had missed an event for fans. Stroll appeared at the stewards' office for this and argued that he had a doctor's appointment. He had some health problems in the morning and he had to visit the doctor for that. The team confirmed this. The stewards understand that the driver went to see the doctor, but argue that in that case, the appropriate authorities should be contacted in order to make it known in time that the driver could not be at the fan event. This did not happen. For this, the team will receive a reprimand. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And yet Sainz had his appendix removed a few days earlier and still showed up to the paddock dressed in team gear. He looked stiff but nonetheless. I'm sure Strolls case could not have been that serious?
That's not the point !!! "Fan engagement activities" must be worst than going to the dentist. LOL I couldn't endure that ****, and I can understand anyone trying to skip them.
To be honest, this is the first time I have seen such a reprimand regarding "fan engagement activities." Everyone else on the grid still has to adhere to them.
Well, Strolls team-mate has been doing it for quite awhile and I don't believe he's ever got a reprimand whenever it was started or enforced. Besides, an F1 driver is supposed to attend these functions to appease the fans, the FIA, their sponsors, and shareholders otherwise IF you ostracize ALL that's involved and become a recluse because all you want to do is just drive an F1 car then quite honestly you have no business being an F1 driver and I don't believe the team, the sponsors, shareholders and FIA would like that. It sets a bad image.
My answer to that is "You can take a horse to the water, but you cannot force it to drink". Engagement with the public is not natural to all folks, and some will never be comfortable with it. That's why we can't all be public speakers, politicians or entertainers.
It seems that you approve everything Liberty decides. Are you working for them, or in the media? That would explain your attitude.
I never said "I approve everything Liberty decides" did I? Don't put words in my mouth or use this one case(reprimand for not attending "fan engagement activities") to broadstroke the canvas as a be all and end all that Liberty does.
I didn't say you did, but it looks like you endorce what is for me a blatant infringement of individual liberty. I am rather touchy on the subject. I think "public engagements" should be negotiated with the team at contract time. Stating that someone who only wants to race and avoid engaging with the public has no place in F1 is rather bolshy.
Well, if the driver signs the contract and it is stated in the contract, I mean, what more do you want.
Times are changing, maybe you are not aware. Some individials, mostly young corporate executives and middle management are starting to challenge some of the obligations on the contract they were forced to sign to get their jobs in the first place, 10 or 15 years ago. The movement in fact started in Corporate America, but has already spread in Western Europe, and the courts increasingly come on their side, because it's judged as unjustified coercion, and a restriction of individual liberty. Also, it's not uncommon for savvy young candidates to put their own requirements in terms of working hours, holiday times, refusal of unpaid hours, social and familial demands at the time of recruitment, turning the table on employers. Apparently some companies had to review totally their practices to keep recruiting. All that to say, that all contracts can be challenged, mostly when they concern the welfare of individuals. Believe me, this will keep on going !!
Stroll got his Mom to ask the family Dr. to say that he was excused from the 'fan walk' due to an extreme case of bad attitude, and, "who are fans" ? I could not care less about them, even if they love me... Just like his 'go-kart' shenanigans in the chopper at 'his daddy's' track to ride in a bike. So there, or he'll have a hissy fit. I am what I yam...without the spinach Did anyone go to car races, when drivers simply loved the fans? I did, and they were lovely people just like common people that we all ought to be. Unfortunate, as all the ass.... stars out there are taking this STAR attitude a little too seriously. Bummer for all the sports.
Lance has a seat for life in F1 as long as daddy is running the team. Aston Martin confirms Lance Stroll for 2025 and beyond. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is news LOL???? Cetainly the Gasly signing is more newsworthy than The Yacht Team leader clogging the grid further lol
