Like many car companies Renault and Mercedes have commercial links, still now. The small capacity engines (up to 1600cc) in the A and B Mercedes series are made by Renault. Also some Mercedes commercial vehicles are re-badged Renault products. But I don't think we can conclude from it that inevitably Mercedes-AMG will supply Alpine F1.
It is news in the sense that there was recently some speculation about Lance calling it quits. Glad to see him staying on the grid.
So the Stroller is set for 2 more years? Sigh. Because of *him*, the team will fluctuate and actually not progress further. Alonso has been influential in many of his team mates, but this time, due to the nature of the team, he will have to stick with him. Unfortunately, this is another stone in his long list of decisions that have hampered him to get another championship.
Nonsense. The team is not progressing because of the car. They could put Max into the second seat and it wouldn't make the car faster. Alonso is top notch and he can't get the car to the front.
Shocked, SHOCKED that his contract was extended by the team majority owned by his father. Wow, didn't see that coming.
Gutter press headline LOL Talentless Billionaire Nepo Baby Failson Remains Safely Employed By The Company His Daddy Bought For Him Lawrence Stroll should have fired his kid a long time ago
If it wasn't for Lawrence Stroll, Dimitry Mazepin would have bought Force India for his son when it went bust. The team would have been renamed Uralkali, and raced under the Russian flag with Nikita Mazepin. The result could have been the same: the son of a billionaire would have inherited a seat in F1 for life.
Put Max in the AM and he'll look mediocre at best. Alonso knows what he is doing and he can't put that POS on the podium either. Not even into the points anymore as of recent.
Max and Alonso would be earning more points in 2024 than Stroll and Alonso currently......that's just straight up factual. Same goes for 2023 as well.
And what difference would that make in regards to the car's performance? Stroll Sr. is not in this for the money, so I doubt he'd care about having some extra FIA handouts at year's end.
True. Max and Alonso in the same team might be fireworks (remember Lewis and Alonso?). There's a reason RB keeps the lame Checko around because it makes Max feel comfy. That aside: As long as the AM is not even capable to make it into the points, it wouldn't matter whether Max sat in the other car or not. 11th place pays nothing.
Considering AMR still treats Stroll like the number 1. Car develops more to his liking and they often give new parts to Stroll first. So yeah I would say a lot is because of Stroll that they are not really progressing and will never be a serious contender. They have some great people and top notch facilities yet the car goes backwards every single year. Imagine Newey signs with AMR and designs a car sharp like Max's Red Bulls. Stroll wouldn't even be able to keep the car on track and Newey would likely be forced to redesign the car with a more planted back end that is easier to drive, but more understeer and fundamentally slower.
