Well you can buy a MacLaren Stroller: Maclaren Baby, now we have the Williams competitor As for the Massa versus Bottas debate ... IMO both are mid field drivers at best so which ever came out on top really doesn't matter. Mercedes opted for Bottas just like Ferrari took on Irvine, Barichello and Massa for M. Schumacher. Pete
There is another side to this, a negative side yes and hopefully this will never happen but ... I think Williams is taking a huge risk running this young guy with a super rich Dad. What happens if he manages to kill himself, will the world's biggest and most expensive court case follow? Dad has far more $'s than Williams or even F1. Pete
He'll probably be faster.....Even after his accident massa proved he was at least as good as Elton, so Bottas should have plenty enough to beat him...
Hope so, but I bet the wolf will have something to say in the briefings about bottles having his place in the team behind toto's loverboy
LOL! About ten years ago, when Hamilton first came on the F1 scene, I referred to him as Ron Dennis's cabana boy. I was accused of being racist! (I'm not). Anyway, it's hard to believe he's been in F1 this long.
It's been nice having a few threads lately that haven't declined into Hamilton discussion. If it's all the same maybe let's keep this one on track with Williams driver bashing.
Might have something to do with the fact that he became one of the most successful F1 drivers of all times. Just a thought.
Well, test 2 starts imminently. Can Stroller beat his crash tally from test 1? Should be well within his capabilities...
Stroll and Williams now sponsored by Bombardier. Bombardier has been bailed out by the Canadian government to the tune of over a billion dollars. Some Canadians furious. LOL and WTF. Bombardier jumps into F1 with sponsorship of Quebec driver Lance Stroll | Montreal Gazette
A bit like Renault that had to receive state help a few years ago, plus some capital injection from the Chinese via Dong Feng. The unions were not best pleased when Renault re-purchased Lotus to relaunch a new works team, when some plants were at risk of closure in France. As you say, WTF

I think the rationale is that they are supporting a countryman from Canada. Who knows though...I thought they were a personal sponsor of Hamilton, but I don't see their branding on anything he wears.
Brazilians don't like to see Petrobras and Banco do Brasil sponsoring drivers/teams either, as these state-owned companies are all in the middle of major investigations here - especially Petrobras which was looted by corrupt politicians. What most people don't realize is that marketing is important. The strategy might be in need of revision, but to many of these companies it makes sense to be in F1... Sometimes it's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Since we're on the subject, Sochi is now being funded by "private" russian investments groups.....hmmm, I wonder what those private russian investments groups are????
I agree the marketing can be powerful, but you better have your ducks in a row before going into F1. I use to work for a branch of Marconi (formerly GEC) when they sponsored Benetton. Yay! Then bankrupt. Outrage, etc. Sometimes it's just media hysteria, but other times it's a symptom of a bigger problem.
