Most parents have a hard time saying no. I agree alot of posters knew this. But the team did nothing but take the money LOL

Whether it was Stroll jr. that vehemently persisted in wanting into F1 or dads is debateable. I lean towards dads type A persona. He wants his son in a Ferrari or Mercedes; whether Ferrari or Mercedes wants him is altogether a different matter.

 

The entire "forcing Massa to retire" thing debacle didn't help. Remember Massa was pushed out for Lance's $$$$, then when Bottas left for Merc Williams had no choice but bring Massa back from retirement.

Then when Massa left, he whined that Massa wasn't helping him enough. Talk about chutzpah. You get the guy fired and then you whine after he's gone that he could have done more to help your career!

All that drama -- and having Lance compete side by side with a very good and experienced Massa for a direct comparison -- didn't help at all. But this year he seems to have even falling off more. The end of the season his rookie Russian teammate (who Williams dumped) matched him or beat him, which added to the impression he's not motivated or not good enough.

 

+1 and I have a knife to cut the irony lol about his situation with Massa lol. Paddy says he's improved. We will see against Perez.

 

Yes and no: Technically probably true but this only matters if you are an independent driver looking for a cockpit. If you have daddy buying you the ride for next year, it doesn't really matter that much and there is no better place to learn to drive a F1 than while sitting in one.

 

Possibly not a winning driver LOL. Certainly a winning subject

 

But that mane. He has tremendous fpi (follicles per inch).

Yep not one of Ocon's best moments.However he does appear to have quite a bit of talent .Let's see if he gets back in for 2020, to replace Bottas?

 

I have a tendency to hold grudges for a very long time. So I'm quite ok with Ocon being out of the game.

Ocon is not liked within the paddock by just about anyone (except for Toto it seems). I've heard from too many directly involved sources that he's an absolute ****, and has been since his younger days. A shame as you wouldn't expect it from a kid that didn't grew up rich and spoiled like the vast majority of them.
