I'm planning on buying an 84-85 308 (or 328) and am trying to find a good Ferrari mechanic - preferably near the North end of town, since I'm in the Broomfield area.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Steve

As you'll quickly learn, we're fortunate to have an outstanding Ferrari shop right here in our backyard -- Scuderia Rampante in Boulder, run by Dave Helms. It's a family affair with his wife and daughter in the biz too. I'm a recent transplant to the area and was worried about finding competent service for my '85 308 Euro, but Dave put those worries to rest. Be patient, though -- it often takes weeks to get an appointment, but it's worth it knowing your car will get the treatment it deserves.

Good luck in your search for the perfect F-car!

I would suggest to call him ( 303/938-9000) and go see him to chat and see his operation. The Man has a few years in the bizz and you'll like him.
    Good luck

I "third" the suggestion for Dave Helms at Scuderia Rampante; he has personally worked on my 328 and it runs absolutely superb.

We really are fortunate here in CO--back in Albuquerque, I had to drive 1.5 hours to Santa Fe for service on my old 308, until I (finally) found a local shop experienced with Ferraris.

Lots of advice on potential 308/328 purchases here on FerrariChat, so spend some time researching and searching the archives, and don't be shy about PMing (Private Messaging) me or other owners if you have questions!

Dave Helms is the only guy that I have work on my F cars. I can't say enough good things about him, Kris, and Nicki. They run a great operation.

I visited Dave's operation for two reasons. First to know where it is when it becomes necessary for service and second to get to know the man that would be touching my car (I'm Very picky about that).
We'll, I just want to thank all who suggested that "Dave was the Man" for Ferrari service in the North Denver area. He and his wife couldn't have been more gracious. Dave spent 1 1/2 hours with me, getting to know me and giving me some invaluable advice and contacts to help me in my search for the right 84-85gts. We even grew up within 10 miles of each other back in Minnesota and both had Corvettes in our background, so we had plenty to talk about.
I was able to see and inspect a couple 308's that were being serviced and I now have total confidence that Dave can take the best possible care of my future Ferrari-

Roland- no, I sold my 70' Corvette about 7 years ago after doing a complete restoration myself (including paint, took about 6 months)
Daves 71 Vette has about 275,000 miles on it and he still drives it all the time
Dave is having a new house built right now and still plans to buy a Ferrari someday.
