Looks like I am going to the Rolex 24 hour race in Daytona next weekend!!! Anyone else going?? Any suggestions on what, where, or how for cool stuff at the race or around Daytona while there???
Hey Fred -Martha, Rob and I are going - driving up on Sat. Rich Zahn, Shane Lewis & Peter Collins are running the Autohaus Pontiac. Mitch Paggery is driving on the Alex Job in a Porsche Cup car - so with Keith Ennis and all the other crew guys we have lots of friends on the grid - you are welcome to join us for dinner - going to put together a group of non participants if you want to join us. watch the Mazdas this year Syl and the boys at Speedsource have a field of cars that scream at Daytona - rotary engines love that track.
Awesome!! Good to see there will be a lot of friendly faces while there! I will give you a call on Saturday morning, and likely will latch onto you guys and join you for dinner, etc...
will make a point to hook up with you by phone early Sat are you coming for our Club session today? I have you on the my guest list for dinner tonight as well. We are on the turnpike now track car in tow - dont worry Rob's driving - feel free to take a few laps in my car if you like... hope to see you later!
Cool..... As for tonight.....assuming no rain and I can get out of work at a reasonable time, I will be up there later this evening!
I'll be going. Make sure you ride the ferris wheel. It may be expensive, but it's worth it. The longer you're there, the more cars end up in the garages, being repaired. After teams retire, they packup their pit boxes. Some of the best action can be seen from the empty pit boxes. Bring a set of ear plugs too. Here is a selection of my photos from last year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/52924966@N00/sets/72157612988790302/
Some of the Scuderia Space Coast guys are heading up on Saturday. I'll be there... some of the Grand Am officials were at PBIR today and they are looking for a good race. I know there is a Porsche Paddock.... Is there a Ferrari one ?
I may make the trip, it just depends on how much homework I have to do over the weekend. If not, I'll see you all at Supercar Weekend.
A buddy and I may drive down from West Virginia in the Testarossa. Is there a Ferrari corral for parking? If we make it, we should arrive Fri. sometime. Dave
just got my tickets - 4 days - all access - infield parking - $85 a piece.... looking forward to some fun !
I will be there friday - will be staying just across the street from turns 3- 4 (high banked oval ) in my bus
Hope to see ya' there! BTW, you always have the kick-azz toys/goods and know how to roll.......major props on the bus!!
Sorry, change of plans - am in Orlando and will not make the Rolex - will be in Daytona for the Bud Shoot Out - bus parked in the location mentioned above - will be there thru the 500 - will you be around for any of that - let me know - I will have several rvs of friends with me - stone crabs, steaks, etc - I know many do not like Nascar but I have been going for years - back when Nascar had bumpers and was real racing - not the boring money grabing bull **** we see today - but we have a great time with friends - only time of the year I see some of them - any of you going, let me know
at the track next weekend: If it isn't cloudy and you "ain't too likker'd-up," you could witness the final night launch of the space shuttle, set for 4:39 am, Sunday morning the 7th. Should be awesome! KevFla
I went to the very first night launch, had on base passes. Set up my cameras near the countdown clock. Suddenly it became daylight, absolutely incredible. Worth every minute of waiting and bladder control
Had a GREAT time!!! For everyone who I got to link up with while there, it was great seeing ya'!!! For anyone who I missed, hope to catch ya on another event!! I had all access passes, including garage and pits, as well as access to a suite/skybox. It was AMAZING!! Even timed it just right to ride the ferris wheel for the fireworks display!! Hope to get some pics up soon!.......
That was probably me. My buddy and I drove down from West Virginia. Just got back. My buddy was helping the group that brought the Porche 907 for the Heritage display.
