I'm watching this Rolex race right now, and just heard the announcer say one of the teams may be going to a Ferrari power plant. Anyone know who and when?
I'm Not sure I only heard the last part of his sentence. I think its some other team though. I don't think he was talking about them.?.?. http://www.grand-am.com/rolex/news/index.cfm?cid=14011
What I caught was that it's someone involved in the Ferrari Challenge - Ferrari engine in a DP - rather see it in a LMP1 or LMP2. Carol
Level 5=Scott Tucker (430 Challenge competitor) who also owns (or at least has entered) a DP in the recent past. IIRC, Ferrari engine development in DP would be entirely a privateer effort, and an expensive one at that. I would love to see an official Ferrari effort in ALMS/LMS P1, but Ferrari seems spread a bit thin these days (factory and customer engines in F1, A1GP, 430 Challenge Series, 430GT, FXX/599XX, etc).
They finished fourth OA at VIR today in their BMW-Riley. Christophe Bouchut (Lemans winner, Daytona 24 Overall winner) was Scott's co-driver and he just rocked! They got a great break with the caution at the end, gained a ton of track position, but it's still cool for them to be there. I saw their GT car looking like it was getting prepped for next weekend at Thunderbolt in the Synergy shops. Hmmm...
