Was listening to the scanner, watching RadarScope, and texting with NWS connection, all the storms seemed to split off just before reaching George Bush, like the 2 that went East

It was the first time I ever heard " the voice " , speaking from the tornado sirens.. That was creepy! " Tornado Warning.... Tornado Warning " .... !!

    Got lucky for sure.

A sad as the loss of life and the property damage is we are all very lucky to not have suffered far worse with a EF4 tornado. My thoughts and prayers go out to those that lost loved one's.

What a night. Lived in dallas my whole life and never had a bad weather night like that. I live in plano,so lucky missed the worst of the storms. But our sirenS were hoping off here, so I was paying attention very closely.

Missed the tornado's wrath by a quarter mile or so. Incredibly eerie this morning driving out of the neighborhood & seeing cars flipped off the road & buildings half gone. :(

Between heavy rain bands, it appeared everything was a few miles east of us, from White Rock Lake towards Rockwall, so we decided it was smart to ignore the sirens and head out about a mile to El Fenix. Had 10 adults and 6 grandkids in 4 cars, and got there safely, but somewhat wet.

After what played out, we probably should have done the smart thing and stayed home, but the lure of those margaritas and quiet kids chomping on chips and hot sauce was too strong to ignore.

Several in my company live in Garland / Rowlett area, and were within a mile of the damage. All safe, and very lucky !

we were driving up from Houston as these storms were developing...crossed into Ellis county right as the first tornado warning in the area was broadcast. we could see the storms to our west as we were driving in and they pretty much rolled in on top of us as we got close to home. we probably missed the worst of it by maybe 10 minutes (I hit the gas hard when I heard the first warning on the radio). as soon as we exited 75 at knox/henderson, we could hear the sirens going off and they stayed on for at least another hour or so. craziness!

as bad as the damage was, seems it could have been so much worse...prayers for all those affected.

Drove to Dallas Karting Complex today (qualified for shifter karts! ;)), and drove through the 30/190 area. What a mess. Houses destroyed, huge trees broken in half. Tons of debris in the lake. They've made a big dump area on the West side of 190, its an amazing collection. Mother Nature was pretty PO'd.

Drove through the same area on 12/20 as we headed out of town on vacation. Then drove through again today on the way home from vacation. Very sad.

We live 4 miles away from Garland where it landed. We where at north park then and they closed the mall to enter and exit.

If it went straight to rockwall, rather than Rowlett, my house would be in front of it.
