Man, as one of my all-time favourite cars I really hate to see this. I guess the High-Downforce Kit wasn't quite high enough.

At least everyone seems alright. Wishing a speedy recovery to those involved and a quick restoration to get the car back on the road.

McLaren F1 rolled and crashed in Italy

I'm sure Eric will have at least information on the car.

Erik posted a thread on the McLarenF1 forums about the topic earlier this morning. He said one passenger was injured, but not "seriously" thankfully. Amazing considering the car is so old now and without all the high tech side curtain airbags, crumple zones (where the car basically completely falls apart), etc.

Yes, passenger's injuries are not serious according to those on the scene. Very unfortunate to have this happen and looks quite a bit uglier than the outcome seems to be. Terrible to see this at the start of what should have been a great event.

The cars were taking part in the current McLaren F1 Owner's Club Tour. A few more pleasing photos from the event can be seen here via Simon Kidston. As you'll see in a couple, the roads were wet in the morning which contributed to this incident.

Looks like the tree ripped through the right passenger side tub. Unbelievable. :(

The shot with the 4 GTRs at the gas station is probably my favorite F1 shot ever (not due to technique/framing, but just the actual subject matter and location).

I've not seen any closeup pics but word is that there is nothing about the damage to the car that doesn't look to be repairable from people who would know.

Simon's pics are great so far - I hope we see a lot more like it in the coming days and then we can forget about the damage to this one until it reappears after they glue it all back together in Woking.

Tough day for him. Wouldn't like to start my day rolling ~€7.5m worth of Mclaren :(.

Great construction as always from Mclaren. I'm sure it'll be on the road again. :)

Hope the injured person has a swift recovery!

We get almost complacent about 250GTO tours every five years but the shot with the best part of 20 F1's being used is far more impressive to my eyes (am I even allowed to say that in this forum !) - oh and

Doesn't Kidston have a hard life from Villa D'Este straight off onto this tour....
