Guys Has anyone sourced a replacement for the rollover valve on top of the charcoal canister? I've seen a little discussion in some threads but couldn't determine if anything had been found off the shelf? Ta muchly.
(EDIT) Isn't the rollover valve on top of the "vapor separator/disareator"? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Or are you talking about the electrically controlled evaporation valve before/after the canister? https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Ferrari/355/355_(5.2_Motronic)/PartDiagrams/011/Antievaporation_Device
The Ferrari evap valve looks awfully like the Bosch 0280142310 Ferrari: https://www.awitalian.com/product/anti-evap-purge-valve-162412.html/ Bosch: https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/bosch-0280142310?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAiA9NGfBhBvEiwAq5vSy86PsfGfHZ63GmgVkivnhWjrVlGx8am86MhhKNxkaodtM_mi6qYEfRoCeg8QAvD_BwE
A lot of emission parts are available on E Bay, Rockauto or Amazon. And the exact correct part too, not just a generic piece that will work.
That particular brand appears to be nil stock on Amazon and eBay. Note the barb on the downward connection of that aftermarket rollover valve is wider. If you find an aftermarket valve, you may have to smooth it out a little, or it will never be coming out again. The OEM rubber grommet is very hard. Why are you replacing it? I can’t imagine it gets much use
Mechanic told me mine was cracked, hence why I didn't have any pressure in the fuel tank. Its no biggie, just on the list of little jobs to sort out... Sadly we don't have Rockauto in the UK, so will have to dig around locally...
Ah.. ok. I tried to find a suitable aftermarket one a few years ago, but they have a very odd shape and the clamp is designed to go in a specific spot. I didn't have much luck. See this thread: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/146592908/ It gives the dimensions and shows the valve sitting on 2 short legs (either side of the rubber grommet). The height is critical too, because it is close to the engine lid.
But you do have auto parts stores? Take the old one to one and they should be able to find a replacement. Nothing exotic or "Ferrari" about it.
I don’t know about the UK, but here in Australia, auto stores are relatively useless when it comes to staff knowledge of inventory. You have to come up with a part number or vehicle type or they look lost or hint that you are wasting their time…. despite the range of products here being far less than you have in the USA. All the hits on Google for rollover/slosh valves of that type point to the USA Here are my dimensions showing barb size and hose size. Image Unavailable, Please Login The only dimensions for rollover valves (on Google) I get are 3/8” (9.54mm) or 3/16” (4.7mm*) *barb size
After more Googling… I think I may have found a source in Australia https://augustaparts.com.au/products/4511?_pos=1&_sid=8aea8ee31&_ss=r No dimensions, but it’s so cheap, less than U$10, I ordered one. I’ll take some measurements when it arrives.
I recall a mid 80s Nissan sentra and gtr works also. Worth checking. Find them on ebay. Sent from my SM-G990U using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The UK is much the same. If you can't provide the registration number or part number, they aren't interested. People who Are able to look at a part and then find a similar match are few and far between... You get the odd nutter like me who's prepared to dig around and find alternatives... (mostly because I'm nearly always broke so have no alternative)...
Yeah… Just realised after I got the receipt for it. Not hopeful. It’s probably half the size. Anyway, I’ll let the forum know.
I think this works for 348 at least https://www.ebay.com/itm/165949734315?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=YmfTgeKrS5a&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Sent from my SM-G990U using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Unfortunately, the rollover valve for the golf buggy turned out to be tiny. The pipes were 5 mm (top) and 6 mm (bottom). i.e. outside diameter. The top pipe inside diameter looked quite large, relatively speaking (3mm), but the bottom pipe ID was only 2mm. I know only vapours are supposed to go through there, but even so, that's quite small. It might get blocked relatively easily.
