Hi, A colleague of mine was telling me today that she heard something about a Rolls Royce that came with a silver engine from the factory. I had never heard of such a thing and personally think she just doesn't know what she is talking about but I was just curious if anyone has heard of such a Rolls. Thanks, Rob
as far as i'm concerned, no production car ever came with a pure silver engine. rolls-royce has always been known to cater to their customers, so if they wanted a silver engine, i'm sure r-r could arrange it. is it possible your friend was thinking of a model name? off the top of my head here are some examples: silver seraph, silver dawn, silver cloud, silver spur, silver spirit, etc.
That was what I was thinking too, silver doesn't really make sense to use in an engine like gold or platinum. She probably was just referring to a name like you said. You did, however, leave off the iconic Silver Ghost from your list.
I think silver ghas a low boiling point besides it would cost millions to custom make an engine out of it & what would be benefit ?
I thought there was a RR with a body made of silver, i think it was given as a gift to an Indian Maharajah.
how could i forget? AX201 is the car that started my life of being a gearhead. you can't go wrong with a car that is billed as the most priceless car in the world. i've seen pictures of something like that online, but i thought they were photoshopped, but would not surprise me.
Yeah I think she's mistaken due to names. The ghost was one of the first cars I obsessed over (I was 3 years old)
