Wonder if they'll offer different colored tops ?
So if I've put a deposit down on a roma coupe, but haven't locked spec and received the actual allocation yet. How big of a fight with my dealer would it be to swap to a convertible?
Its Ferrari - they do everything for money. Take both and sell the Coupe, when you receive the convertible, for a higher price.
So, if Roma Spider is a soft top, could that hint to a Portofino direct successor? The main talking point of the California was the retractable hard top, which was new to Ferrari at the time. Portofino carried that over. Could giving it a soft top be Ferrari's attempt to draw a line between the Roma and a possible Portofino successor? I see no reason not to merge the coexisting Portofino and Roma into a Roma Spider. But I also see no reason to give it a soft top and take away that one thing the California was known for.
I think they've made it quite clear that the Roma Spider is taking over for the Porto. Just about everybody who was building hard top convertibles has now gone back to soft. Look at mercedes and bmw. the flexibility of storage/design is hugely beneficial and tops have advanced to where the only benefit of a hard top is that visually its hard.
Makes sense, though I didn't know there was much to evolve in soft top technology. Why is it better now than 15 years ago?
There was a need to have a change at that time. There were some advantages but the weight of the system and room taken from boot brought everybody to go back to soft top choice .

I already ordered last year. I dont care about the car. I would like to drive one year and will sell. Bought the car to get a better Ferrari status. I afraid about the price. I hope its not so high. Had a talk two days ago with Lamborghini. They told me, the new Aventador will be charged with 500.000 Euro plus some must options. So the salesman told me he think, the new Aventador is a 600.000 Euro car. That's much to much for me. I pre ordered one, but for this price, I could forget this trade.
Kinda glad they are going back to soft tops. Those hard top convertibles are a waste of space and very heavy.
It’s D day today!! No leak for the moment I’m really curious to see if Ferrari will introduce some modifications in the design of the Roma (ala Roma M), or if they simply kept the original Roma design. Answer tonight at 8:00pm
What’s the best name for the spider ? Capri? Positano? Just playing but Roma spider is boring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They kept original design of coupe’ version . Design of an M version for coupe’ is already advanced and it will be ready next year . It will have majeure changes
As every/many new model, there might well be a new shade. Such a shame they release the Spider now with « old » design and release the updated design coupé next year :/ As it’s a spider version they might keep the Roma moniker. Ferrari use new names for special/limited series, such as the SuperAmerica (575M spider), the F60 America (f12tdf spider)… Still 2 hours to go!
We already know what it will look like: a topless Roma. So the hype is not really there, and therefore lack of interest. Just my thoughts. I do however look forward to see it. The design of the coupe has always looked a bit funky to me, and I have a feeling that a Spider will look more "correct".
the big question for me is how they shape the rear trunk / top cover. with how shapely the roma is there is a lot design wise they could do to make that interesting and mules have been well covered.
I think they will play it safe and make it very straight forward/simple. Image Unavailable, Please Login
