we need some good pictures for the insurance company from Ron's 512BBi . Please post them here with when they were taken. Thanks!
Martin, I'll do the best that I can, will post more later today. First one January 2007. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Martin, did he have stated value or do we have to establish a value? I've been following Boxers very closely, and there are some for sale at 200k now. msdesign on this board sold his for 150 about 6 mos ago, It just traded again for around 160. . Nathan Beehl just wrote a book on boxers, I'm sure he would help as well. Steve Markowski at RPM Vermont is an expert also. Let me help here. Mark
Hope these help! * December 2006 was the last time I detailed the car and took pictures Image Unavailable, Please Login
this should be posted in the boxer section as well. i suspect there will be a contentious discussion between the ins. co and ron or his advocate w/ respect to a stated or market value monetary claim. these cars have gone up in value considerably. ron's misfortune has made me move to re-appraise and re-submit my stated value. Good luck martin...and again, post in the boxer section. pcb
I update the market value on my car once per year... if you have agreed value policy, you'll be glad you took the few minutes it takes if you ever need it.
They will probably not so much fight anymore but want to see in what condition the car was before the accident. It is not that they can look at the paint and go...oh great it is really nice Well, there are not that many charcoal color boxers around
martin, if you go for top dollar...they will fight. just stand firm or ask them to replace it w/ like (shocks, service history, etc...). they are not in the 512 bbi hunting business...ron will win in the end. pcb
Even Ron does not know. We are pretty sure it is not stated value. He said he wanted to do it but never did it. In that case it is replacement. So in other words they will pay. I figure at least $120K for a replacement. Good news is we can also look in Europe for a replacement.
car must be 25 yrs old or more to be epa/dot exempt, so a euro car must be 83 or earlier. add 2.5 percent duty and 10k for shipping includes the freight forwarder and customs broker fees. Mine sat in port for a month waiting for some idiot customs guy to figure out it was exempt, and they charged me storage! I think 120k is low in todays market for a car in rons condition pre crash. steve at sport auto (N24re) has a mint 10k car on ferrari ads, no price, and a nice one with some minor issues for 119,5.
steve barney at sport auto should be used as a valuation referrence as he has sold a bunch of boxers in this new market and has the benefit of being recognized as a true industry expert!
Since the BB512 was my "first love" in Ferraris, I was naturally drawn to Ron's car and took a few shots of it. I don't think I have any more space to post photos here, but I'd be happy to email them to Ron or Martin. Mike
Didn't the magazine that was given out at the Breakers car show in January have something in the back where it listed every make and model of Ferrari produced and the approximate price range?
