Read this on the SPEEDTV.com, site. I thought it would be interest; http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formulaone/38558/ Ciao...Paolo
The same press conference referenced above also has Ron quoted as saying: > RD: Well, I haven't been very involved in the issue of Silverstone and its > future over the course of the last six months. I have been very much > focused on the company's growth. A few things I can make comment on: I > am one of the guardians of the BRDC and this circuit. > > There has to be unanimous agreement for Silverstone to be sold to a > developer or into a structure that will see the membership sharing the > proceeds. That will never happen if I'm breathing, so those people who are > de-stabilising the club by those suggestions are really wasting their time > because ultimately, the guardians have the power to stop it. Which is why we're probably watching the last British GP for a while :-( Now, everyone can jump on the RD = Lucifer bandwagon...... I'm still hoping Mac comes up clean to be honest. Cheers, Ian Sorry - the link: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/60559
RD is trying to make a case not to have his F1 points taken away or reduced. The questions were softballs IMVHO. Also, in my experience people who tell you how much integrity they have must be watched very very closely.
I'm 100% with you on the last sentence - So I'm keeping an open mind. I would just love for you to concede that, in this case at least, he may not be the devil incarnate - I never thought I'd defend RD, but at this point maybe he's telling the truth? [I hope so for the sake of the sport] Of course he doesn't want to lose points and has put his "marketing machine" into damage control mode, but I'll ask again, "what else can he do?" Cheers, Ian
In seeking the truth one must be rigorously skeptical. As humans, we are easily fooled. We tend to believe what we want to believe, what makes us most comfortable. The sun doesn't revolve around the earth even though that's what are senses tell us. Are people who claim to have integrity interested in the "truth" or their image to others? (Suggested reading: People of the Lie; a Study in Human Evil by Scott M. Peck, MD) Main Entry: skep·ti·cism Function: noun Pronunciation: 'skep-t&-"si-z&m 1 : an attitude of doubt or a disposition to incredulity either in general or toward a particular object 2 a : the doctrine that true knowledge or knowledge in a particular area is uncertain b : the method of suspended judgment, systematic doubt, or criticism characteristic of skeptics 3 : doubt concerning basic religious principles (as immortality, providence, and revelation) synonym see UNCERTAINTY
OK, I get it - You're sceptical - So am I - That's why I'm prepared to keep an open mind..... But, will you at least concede that current evidence suggests that Coughlan/Stepney were acting to maximize their value to another team - Two playbooks and they might be heros at Honda, had it gone their way..... And maybe, just maybe, the docs were taken to Kinkos (sic) in order that they *not* go into the Mac factory..... And therefore RD, and the rest of the evil empire were not involved. Surely it's a possibility? Cheers, Ian
Yes, anything is possible. Just remember, all the players and the press have their own axe to grind and their own agenda. The most convincing liars are the most believable. Salesmanship is what we like but it's not the same thing as the truth. The way to get the truth is to be dedicated to reality. People are selfish, they lie. they will push the envelope to see how far they can go or how much they can get away with. Usually, the bigger the ego, the more the envolope is pushed. Question: who in F1 has a bigger ego than Ron Dennis besides Bernie? Read "People of the Lie." It will change your life. What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
never forget, RD IS LUCIFER all becomes clear after you understand this remember those Darth Vader helmets his boys in the pits were wearing a few years back ? Freudian slip ?? I think not !!!
Silverstone has a contract through 2009. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601102&sid=aVAw6DhMDvD0&refer=uk
