Ron or Flavio?

i hate them both.....but at least Ron knew something about f.1!

 

I like flav, pot belly like a pig, but the girls he managed to pull, that makes him a role model in my eyes!

 

Flavio has pretty good taste in bimbos.

As to Ron... something is wrong with a man where he designs his factory space to make sure there there that every piece of tile on the floor is exactly the same size -- no trimming. Even if the buildings outside and inside dimensions are odd, all the tile on the floor matches perfectly.

Now... we are talking about a CAR FACTORY --- not someone's home. Money or efficiency doesn't matter. Perfect looks do.

And when they have management meetings, someone actually comes in with a tool to make sure all the chairs around the table are exactly equally spaced.

Ron is a bit too obsessive. That would drive me crazy.

 

He is one of a kind Ron, that’s true. He banned beards and facial hair didn’t he, not sure if that still stands, and I know he’s fastidious about cleanliness in the tech centre!

 

Tough one.

Flavoi for picking the drivers and running the team.

Ron for building the F1 cars as overly meticulous he can be. He's a perfectionist to the nth degree.

 

I have always admired Ron Dennis, so it's easy for me to vote for him.
I am sure he isn't easy to get along with him all the time though.

Flavio? He is a likeable rogue with a few trick up his sleeves, but I wouldn't trust him too much.

Ron Dennis achieved a lot more, but it seems that he was more interested in the tiles of the factory than in his people. Maybe with success he became too egomaniac.

Bernie Ecclestone was also obsessive.

When he bought Brabham, Bernie was shocked to find the place very untidy to his taste, and decided to do something about it.
Several mechanics were sacked because they used to let their Tools on the bench at the end of the day instead of storing them.
His COD was the reason Ron Tauranac quickly sold him his share of the business: he couldn't stand the fussiness.

Later, there are stories about Bernie checking the perfect alignment of the FOM trucks in the paddock at each GP.
Bernie, also wanted the drivers to get the tyre logo at the top on each wheels for better effect!!
That forced the drivers to jack up each truck and trailer to bring the tyre brand visible the right way up.
A real nightmare, I was told that by a chap who drove for FOM.

Bernie's long standing partner Tula( before wife Slavica) revealed that when he used to go home after a day's work, his first task was to check if all the pictures on the wall in his house were correctly horizontal, and relocate any furniture that could have been slightly moved during the day by the cleaner. Everything had to be aligned and spotless in the house before going to bed !!!

 

Here is one way to measure people.

Number of people who would like to have a beer with Flavio: 6,000,000+

Number of people who would like to have a beer with Ron? 2 (and only if he's paying)

 

Ferrari could use someone like Flavio right now.

 

Flavio is the scum of the earth – I worked for him for six months, so that's first hand, folks. I would rather have to put up with Dr Awkward any day.

 

Can both be right?

 

The point being he is a seasoned race manager with practical common sense, vision, and understands the big picture. Ferrari have been missing that for some time.

 

With Flavio, he focusses on the plan and makes it happen as best he can (obviously, he sometimes goes a bit too far, Singapore springs immediately to mind), but he was charismatic and his team seemed to want to follow him (my apologies to the earlier poster, I don’t know the circumstances under which he suffered under Flavio, so I do respect your first hand experience, so I’m talking in a broad ‘from the outside looking in from 94 to 2008).

F1, and maybe Ferrari, need someone with that ability to make the tough calls and risk the upset to get the wins.... a bit of charisma... you could never accuse toto Wolff of having a personality, I can imagine I’d rather watch paint dry than listen to him for too long, successful or not.

 

Ron Dennis was the boss of his team.

Flavio wasn't, and no one offered to hire him since.

That's the difference.

 

I agree with you and the thing i've heard Alesi , Berger,Trulli ,say about him makes me believe he's below scum....

 

And they all have chosen him for his good looks and his flawless character
