    Hi Guys,

California 30 parked up in the garage, came to it next day and the roof had put itself down.

Took it to the local dealer and not faults found, 4 weeks have now passed.

Yesterday went out, all’s fine with the car, parked up and locked the car and when I came back the roof was down again.

    Any ideas please

Does your car have the mods4cars module installed, perhaps by a previous owner?

Maybe someone in your household is messing with you?

    Faulty switch perhaps?

Sounds like an aftermarked comfort open module like Redneck Slim says

Check if you can do this with your remote

Not that I know of, it only works if you keep you finger on the switch.

As other systems have to be in place for the roof to work normally I guess that would rule out a faulty switch.

Good video, thanks. As I have to keep my finger on the switch I guess the car has not had this fitted.

Some people say that the top will operate if you turn and hold the key in the drivers' door -- I don't think that worked on my Cali 30 and have never tried it on my Cali T. However, if it does, then it could be some sort of malfunction with whatever ECU controls that feature.

If someone did install one of those aftermarket modules, they should have given you the remote that goes along with it to one-touch operate the top. I suppose it's conceivable that someone nearby has one of their modules on their own convertible, and when they operate theirs it is operating yours because it happens to share the same frequency. That seems unlikely but you never know.

Did you try to operate the roof using your Ferrari fob/key as shown on the video? Alternatively, you could see if the module has been installed by removing the cover in the trunk as shown in the installation manual.

Key in the drivers door lock will open/close the roof on the Cali T

Can confirm that key in driver door lock will also open/close the roof on a 2011 Cali - why they have not implemented that to work via the keyfob remote I do not understand.

No, the only thing I can think of is a fault in the control module.

    Hi Guy’s,
Any updates as, I’m having same problems on 2012 California 30 .
Walk away with key in my hand and roof goes down. Lock car and walk away and roof goes down and alarm goes off.
Then it seems fine for a while. Maybe a couple of months which seems to the way the fault comes back.
Had car 4 years, 25 k miles no problems until last year and although it stopped when I fitted new battery it’s now come back.
Car used regularly and otherwise a fantastic trouble free California.
Going to remove and send away Boot module for testing but, any thoughts from other California owners please

Maybe it is the battery. Do you have one of the cardmod modules inside that lower the roof with the key fob? Perhaps that is acting a bit wanky with a sudden drop of battery voltage.

with a California pretty much any crazy electric issue .. The first thing you should do is make sure the battery is FULLY charged then see how it goes.. IT could have a bad tender or if you do not keep it on a tender ... My bet is its the battery

Then there is a problem with the boot parcel position sensor. Did you follow the replacement battery start up procedure?

What is the Start up procedure please.
When shelf is up, roof will not operate so, sensors are working.
The roof every now and again decides to operate. Car can be locked or unlocked, it makes no difference.

There is a procedure in the owners manual of how to reset all the systems after disconnecting the battery. Its called Battery Sensor Calibration.
