Had my 2011 Cali for about six weeks. Today the top refused to retract. It initiates the process, parts start moving, but it stops after about 3-4 seconds. It will come back to fully closed but it will not go farther in the down cycle. After the top is back in place I get a trunk open error message. I get out and close it and everything is fine for top up driving but repeated attempts fail to put the top down and always leave the trunk lid slightly open. Any ideas?

    Notes:
The trunk was fully closed when I started the roof down process
    The engine was running
There was nothing in the trunk
The shelf inside the trunk was in the correct position

There is some sort of “reboot” procedure the dealer in Tampa Bay went through with me a few years ago on my 2011. Call your dealer unless you can get it here. I think I have seen it on here in the past.
It’s crazy, push a button on the remote then hold a button down for 3 seconds….. makes no sense but May work.

“There is another thread here which apparently worked for another owner when "Roof Failure" comes up. It is quoted as the "FOB trick". Lock the doors and then press unlock-trunk at the same time while holding it for 30 seconds and if the car doesn't unlock repeat the sequence.
I'm inclined to guess that this problem origin is electrical/electronic. As mentioned by 4th Gear the battery should always be fully charged otherwisecomputer electronic issues can happen.“

Update. I tried moving the trunk shelf up and then firmly back down into position. Now the top works. Not sure what’s going on here. Shelf seemed ok to begin with. Maybe the sensors are hyper sensitive. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions
