It gets stuck at the part where the roof itself is supposed to lift. It sounds like it's trying but one of the latches didn't let go. Is there a way to reset it since I have a hunch it's because the battery died

Well if the battery is dead there is nothing you gonna do to remedy the situation.

presumably your battery is no longer flat! I don't know of any reset operation but there is a scary procedure for manually operating the roof that's described in the owner's manual. It's not for the faint of heart though.

yikes, alright I'll just take it to the dealership then. I just remember in the California there was a reset option that got it working but couldn't find the same on the 488

You can try a "hard" reset. Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. If the battery is weak due to having been drained try the following after the reset. Start the car. Let it do the cold start. Then make sure your AC and lights are off. Hold it at 3000 rpm and while holding it there, try and open the roof. That way you are sure to give it the power it needs to operate. If that works, it is a sign that your battery is dead. Then just get a new quality battery. If this does not work, time to call your dealer.
