My home got hammered pretty bad from the Thursday morning hail storm, just had an inspection & was advised it's a total loss. I'll be contacting my insurance company in the morning to get everything started. If anyone one can recommend a good contractor in the Fort Worth area I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Will

Looks like a lot of y'all up in the North DFW area got hammered also this evening. Best of luck getting it sorted out, I'm still waiting on my insurance company approve the work after a second visit from last week to reinspect my detached garage which they may or may not cover.

In the meantime my roof is starting to leak & I'll be covering it with a giant plastic tarp until they can find the time to get things started & approved. This whole ordeal has become a massive headache. Best of luck all.

It was wicked rain and hail for abt five mins. I was in wife's Benz, found shelter in a bank drive through just in the nick of time! The joys of not having a garage. 😁

Who's your insurance company, if I might ask? We had Met Life and they were quick & efficient. On both car and roof...T

Safeco, usually I've never had an issue with them but lately since the amount of claims coming in they can't seem to handle the amount of work load in a timely manor.

Each blue circle on this map shows a report of hail, some as large as baseballs and even softballs. Almost all of them (except for a few near Paris) came from a single supercell storm that tracked from Bowie across Denton to Frisco, Wylie and Sacse and on to Quinlan.

Friends in Lucas lost a few Windows tonight. There are roofing signs all over my neighborhood from the last one.

Looks like I'm starting over with my damage estimates from square one. Safeco, my insurance company outsourced a company called Mad Sky roofing to write the estimate. The first visit they had a new hire & a teacher on my roof for over an hour, thought everything was well on to get started but not buy a longshot.

They came back a week later & reassessed the damage to my detached garage with very little very little communication and telling me that my garage roof may or may not be covered but when it's repaired they will fix it exclusively even after having a contractor lined up. So much for Texas laws of choosing my own contractor. After making a fews call since then just got a call from Safeco saying Mad Sky will no longer be assisting them with my claim & most likely they are already burning bridges with other Safeco clientele and slowing up the whole repair process.

    to be continued.

Yep, you never know how good your insurance company is until it comes time to file a claim. All of them are great at collecting premiums though...T

About 4 years ago, we had a similar hail storm in Coppell and I had to get a new roof. We used McCall Roofing and they did a great job.

Over this weekend I ordered a digital antenna & so I went up on the roof to mount it yesterday, just when I thought my roof & all damage were replaced I find this. The roofers just rattle canned sprayed over the damage thinking I wouldn't notice.

I put a call into them yesterday morning & haven't heard back, I guess I'll find out on Tuesday what their answer will be otherwise I'm putting in a call to my insurance company & find out where to go from there. This is blatant insurance fraud & I trusted a friend I'd known for over 20 years to to handle this claim for me.

In my current condition with my right eye & balance, I really shouldn't be climbing on ladders & walking on roof tops but this had to be done.

^ That's disgraceful. In regard to the antenna. I've been experimenting with one in anticipation of cutting the cord when our contract ends. Have had good luck getting most channels with attic/upstairs placement. I'd try that before risking a fall from your roof. Of course, depending on how far you are from the broadcast towers south of Dallas, you may need all the height you can get...T
