This is great news - Rory Byrne is back working on our 2014 car. Best part is, in his words, he is "working full steam" on that car. Rory Byrne, Ferrari legendary former chief designer, was at the launch of the teams 2013 car at Maranello on Friday. He told Auto Motor und Sport he is actually working full steam on the Italian teams project for the 2014 car, which will be powered by the all-new turbo V6 rules. Its a nice car, the South African referring to the newly-launched F138 laughed, but its all childs play compared to what awaits us in 2014. Until then, Ferrari has the 2013 title to win after a so far five-year championship drought, and boss Stefano Domenicali confirmed that his designers have adopted some extreme solutions to compete with Red Bull. We are just waiting for Newey to complain about our rear suspension, Auto Motor und Sport quoted a team insider. The German report said the insider is referring to the rear profile that duplicates the 2012 Red Bull only more extremely. (GMM)
Good news. Sorry to admit but this year is going to be fun, but next year is where my thoughts drift to !
Red Bull are the only big team to not pretty much have a second team working full steam ahead on the 2014 car.
+1 +1 I've said it before and I say it again: In 2014 the cards will be shuffled anew. Once the dust settles probably the same teams will be at the top and at the bottom in general, but the dominance of one particular team will be gone. At least for a couple of years. Best chance for the Scuderia to score.
+2 I have my doubts about this year but so many things will change for 2014 which kind of resets the field. -F
Dayum! I don't believe you guys!..... We haven't even started testing yet and have an entire 19 race season to look forward too! Further, for once, the often requested "rules stability" applies; Many here like to think the "golden age(s)" were those with rule stability......... I'm hoping for another epic season that keeps many in the game for as long as possible. Screw 2014! [For now at least ] Cheers, Ian
Maybe I'm just suffering from a severe case of the winter blues, but my hopes aren't up for this season. Losing three times in a row to the cans has really been painful*. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Vettel goes for the Quadriga. Then they can name the Brandenburg gate in his honor and we're back to the boring years of MS dominance. *Losing in general isn't easy to digest but I truly start to hate the cans. McLaren at least is a worthy competitor, as is Lotus. These are names that stand for something, for a long and distinguished record in F1 history. But a soda manufacturer? That's really painful.
Nawww, it's all good. I can't wait until the start of this season. It's going to be great. I just don't expect a much different season from last year. But that's OK, last year was exciting. -F
Although it's fairly well known that Rory prefers to stay out of the limelight, it isn't that well known that he has been dealing with a bout of cancer. For anyone interested, this is an interview he gave on the subject. Although it is a "plug" for the place where he went through a treatment, it also is a great insight into the man. As you will see from the number of views, not many people have watched this, but I found it interesting so I thought it might be worth the share.
