Still sniffing around a multitude of cars across Europe.

Is Rosso Corsa over Cuoio considered a happy match on the 550, please ?

Pictures seem to show differing impressions, some work, others less so - is this a common colour match, please, and is it one that is appreciated ?

Rory- Those two make a beautiful combination, in my opinion. Cuoio is a much richer color than beige, to me.

I personally think RC is too bright for Cuoio. Rosso Maranello or something deeper red would be more suitable.

RC over Cuoio is surprisingly uncommon in my experience but Lord only knows why.

Saying that, the end result is heavily influence by the choice of carpet colour.

I had Castoro in mine and I couldn't fault it (other than the times when I would have preferred to have been rolling under the radar with a more discrete exterior colour).

Those carpets are likely Castoro 172 which is the typical color used on a Beige 4208 leather interior.

I agree -Castoro does not look good with Cuoio - black would be better

This photo, the leather looks to be Beige 4208 and not Cuoio 4609

The colors look lighter in most photos, especially those where the flash goes off. Beige looks like Crema in a lot of photos and Cuoio like Beige. My Charcoal interior, sort of light black, looks medium gray in most photos.

As usual when you ask for opinions on colors, you get horrible and great in the same response.

I'm reasoning that the under-the-radar colours that might have characterised the purchasers of the new cars (Silver over Black, Black over Black) are less likely to appeal in 10 years time, hence my search for something brighter.

I've seen some really clean Grigio Titanio over Charcoal, Grigio Titanio over Grigio Scuro, but they look a bit more sober than I had intended.

And there are so many Red/Black cars around Europe, it would be nice to find something different, without ending up with a wacko-jacko mix that wasn't considered suitable by the cogniscenti.

I'll go and have a look at the Red/Cuoio in the flesh then ................

Does the whole dash need to be removed to replaced carpet?

I tend to agree with your views on this Rory.

A couple more shots of my old car. P.S. this late 575M would have had Poltrona Frau hide whereas the early 550s would have had Connolly. I'm not sure if there are variations in the hue or if it is simply to do with the environmental exposure and products that might have been subsequently applied.

There does appear to be some variation in the Castoro carpet colour too but of course Taz is correct when he says that colours are incredibly difficult to capture with digital cameras that attempt to 'white-balance' everything.

I only wish I had a full-frame digital camera at my disposal when I had the car as I would have taken more wide-angle images of the interior.

Rory, imho a great color combination. Mogulboy, the Japanese Maranello has - just my personal taste - a little bit too much of cuoio....

Terry, you're right, the differentiation of the blu's is difficult, especially TDF, Nart and Le Mans... Pozzi is easy, the only non metallic color and much darker than any other.

Beige is much lighter than cuoio, but on pictures it could be crema as well....

Here's my beige 575 interior. I love it - slightly more intriguing than crema (which I have on my 430 Spider), and more cheerful than Cuoio, which on a dark day can look too brown. According to me.

The only thing I don't like about it is the name - beige is for 1990s computers. GM or Ford would have thought of a much better name.

Tan. Let's call it tan. In any event, looks way better against the dark carpet rather than that castor oil...or whatever they call it.

    Castoro = Beaver in Italian.

Lesser spotted and warm to the touch. ;)

Will do a thread on carpet colors and others can fill in the blanks. Example Castoro (light brown) is 364900172. Best source is build or option sheets, but I only have Castoro, Blue, Nero, Grigio Fumo, and Grigio Scuro so far. By far, the majority of Maranellos have Nero, 364900152, carpets. Shorthand for the carpet color is the color and last three digits of the carpet roll part number, such as Castoro 172.

Interesting, Taz. My 575 carpet is blue. You can see in the pic it's a very dark blue - is that the only blue for carpet? I'd imagine they also offered a lighter blue.

Darius - your carpet looks darker than mine...but as many say, interior colors can be tricky to capture...

My build sheet reads like this:
External color - 503/C Blu Sebring (Blue Met)
    Interior Color - Beige 4208
    Carpets - Blu 168 (Blue)
    Code VB - Steering-wheel Blu 3282
Code ZB - Fig. Zone "A" in Blu Leather

JohnnyRay, your picture is how my carpet actually looks. In my picture, there was sunlight on the seats, which confused the iPhone's sensors. I like the dark blue carpet with the blue paint of our cars.
