I have a 2000 Euro spec 360 manual trans. I recently had belts, spark plugs, fluids, filters, brake pads/rotors and after market exhaust installed. When I firsted picked up the car seemed to run good, it seemed to run a little rich and smelled more exhaust but I thought that was due to the straight through exhaust design. It has been about 5 days since I picked it up, now when starting the idle isn't clean, sounds like it has an aftermarket cam in it. When cruising around town it has hesitation maintaining low speeds. It feels like its getting choked. However at WOT the car feels fine, accelerating on the highway and going through the gears feels great. At low speed, cruising and idle its doesn't feel clean. No CEL light or indication of anything. Note: I was messing with the battery tie down bracket and the positive side of battery touched metal and had a little spark?? Don't know if that could effect anything. It seems like the ECU is searching for idle. Should I try an ECU reset by disconnecting the battery?

Did a visual, nothing looks out of the ordinary. I did notice when I first start it for about 30 seconds it idles smooth then all of a sudden loses idle. Also the car is running really rich, flames pop out the exhaust at idle and I hear the intake like it is gasping for air as the idle is jumping between 900rpm-1100rpms. Any input/help??

Take it back to the shop that did the work, they should sort it out for you....

I will probably do that but it did run fine for 2 days after I picked it up. I find it strange that there is no CEL.

Hopefully it is just something simple, vac line, lose wire, bad connection....

I posted a video of my exhaust at idle, most flames can be seen after the 30sec mark. I have come to the conclusion it maybe the MAF. No CEL light makes me think this, also as I stated when it first starts for about 20 seconds it holds a clean idle and then its lost. The car is obliviously running very rich.

Finally got a chance Friday/Saturday to dig into my idle and rich running condition. Took apart the intake with the MAF and rubber hose fitting. There was motor oil in there? I cleaned them out really good and let them dry for 24hrs plus used the air compressor to blow them out. Did the same with the MAF and used maf cleaner as well. I also used a bottle of Techron in the tank for the injectors for good measure. Went through the ground points, all were good but I sprayed them with contact cleaner anyway. Finally reset the ecu and did a drive cycle. Better than new, idles smooth as butter. Been out driving all day, I am sooo happy!
