Once in a while my 2003 360 gets a rough idle and accompanying it is a ticking/clacking noise. It almost sounds like a valve/lifter. The noise increases with RPM until over 2k then goes away. There is no noise at all when the idle is not rough. Unfortunately it is intermittent, but I will try to capture it next time it happens.

    Anyone else experienced/diagnosed this?

FYI, I am working through the rough idle countermeasures that I have read (Clean MAF and just ordered some spark plugs).

    Thanks!
    Chris

Pulled the pending ODB codes and saw random misfire (P0300) and 2 right bank misfire codes.

Pulled off the throttle bodies and saw oil in the plenums.

I assume that plugs are fouled.

A limited oil presence in the intake plenum is normal, and misfires happens for a good number of reasons, including ...
    sparks,
    coil plugs, wiring
    MAF's,
    bad intake gaskets,
    Fuel injectors ....

and i am sure i am still missing some too

I have a buddy with a 355 with the same symptoms. Could this be the issue on his car?
