Well, the 308 has sold. Yeah, I was really sad to see it go, I'll admit it. In the three years we were together, we had some fantastic memories in those 17K miles, but after much deliberation and chatting with fellow car buddies (a few being F-chat guys here) I felt the best decision was to move on to something else, not to mention the fact that I drove the 308 all of maybe 10 times this past year. So what did I do? Well, once around wasn't enough....

    ....so here's part two, awaiting pickup from the seller's house in Ft. Meyers. My birthday is the 17th so I'm hopeful she'll arrive by then;

Mullsanne? Very presentable car, lets put it that way .... ;-) .... This is quiete interesting, my all time favorite cars are a 308 and the Bentley Mulsanne / Or Turbo R, I guess close enough ... keep us informed on how things progress for you and if you miss the F-car!!!!!! I see you still can't get the Ferrari red outta the system though ;-)

    Mike,

Turbo R. One of my favorite Bentleys of all time. My last one was a '91, this one's an '89 so pre-Active Ride, which is a little better in terms of horrifically expensive stuff to go wrong with the car (don't worry there's still plenty).

I'm sure I'll miss the 308. Hell, I drove that car to Pluto and back. Lots of fond memories of it but my plan with the Bentley is to use it daily. I have a Range Rover for when it gets really nasty in the winter so I figure I can get away with driving this car through the end of November at least.

The 308 is gorgeous, an icon, and will always always always hold a special place in my heart. I'm sure I'll be back. After all, another 308 will make FIVE of them on my books, plus a 400i (but let's not go there..) ;)

I think my next F-car will be an early 355GTB, which I've been considering for quite some time but the fact that I'd need the SD2 system to do any kind of work on it is kind of a put-off right now and the thing with the older Bentleys is that they're made to be "serviced and rebuilt" rather than having parts simply thrown on them. They're like a wristwatch, they need maintenance and upkeep and thorough looking after. But if kept in top condition, are known to run 250K plus without major mechanical rebuilds in order.

I think it will be a good thread that some here may enjoy in terms of the car's reliability over the course of my tenure with her as there seems to be interest in these cars here.

So instead of Rosso Corsa, it's now Tudor Red! :D

    Cheers,
    Aaron

    Hi Aaron,

Yeah love those cars as well. About a year ago I stood next to one of these Bentleys and I was just taken back by its majestic presence. It was very cool and just for kicks how cool would it be to lit up a cigar and go for a slow ride ... well, you'll know in a day or so, ha ....

In any case, I'll keep an eye out for any posts from you - please stay a member of F-Chat. When the day comes that I might add a Mulsanne or a Turbo R (hopefully right next to my 308) ... I'll know who to PM with questions, ha ha ....

In ane case, nothing but best of luck with your new car. It really looks fantastic and hope it fullfills your Bentey dream!

    Mike

    Mike,

Every intention to remain a member of F-chat as I'll be back to the Cavallino soon. I'll keep you posted on the car's reliability and as we speak, the transporter called and said he'd be here by noon :D

    Cheers,
    Aaron

Nice looking car. The white interior goes well with the red exterior. Looks real comfortable. Enjoy.

I've debated buying a Turbo R for some time now, but every time I test one out, I realize how uninvolved it is to drive compared to a 308 or a Mondial...

Do you still have the 400? Interested in how the Bentley compares.

Saw one in the local paper classifieds a few months ago, an '89 with about 60K miles. $30K OBO. Seemed pretty reasonable for a car that when new cost what, about $175K? Not sure of condition, though.

It is particularly uninvolving to drive as compared to an F-car but for the time being, I've had my fun with the 308 and am looking forward to some relaxing long distance driving. I still have two TR6s and my MGB so there are still a few cars that require a little attention when driving....especially putting them around turns 'spiritedly' ;)

Delivery pics...sorry for the low quality, had to use the cell phone..I'll post better ones shortly.
