This will be my last thread on the Scottsdale photo shoot -- but I am wondering who I should talk to in the local Scottsdale Ferrari community about rounding up some cars for a photo shoot. I'm looking to get 6 to 10 newer model high-end cars (e.g., Enzo (?), Ferrari 430, Lamborghini Murcielago, Aston Martin DB9, etc.) and/or some very high-end but slightly older cars (e.g., F40). The photo shoot will likely be at a local Scottsdale resort and will involve shooting a celebrity along with the cars. No driving (other than to and from the venue) is involved.

For a fee, are local dealerships pretty cooperative in allowing their cars to be used in photoshoots? Or is there a big enough base of individual F-chat enthusiasts to assemble a group of cars among F-chatters? Any other car club folks I should be speaking with?

As I believe I mentioned in my other thread, I was originally planning to do this photoshoot in Los Angeles. Now that the photoshoot is in Scottsdale next week (Tuesday or Wednesday), I don't know who to go to in order to round up 6 to 10 cars for the day. Again, any advice would be appreciated as I try to round up some nice cars on very short notice.

    Thanks again,

    Jeremy

    Howdy Jeremy,

I’ve got good news and bad news:

    The good news:

    1. Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley have some awesome venues for your photo shoot, including many of the resort hotels.
    2. All of the cars you listed and many more you can only dream of seeing once in your lifetime are in Phoenix area private collections.
    3. We have a local Ferrari dealership which supports our local events.
    4. Since I suspect that you desire to assemble this photo shoot to promote your previously discussed exotic car membership club, you might do well to speak to a local company who is actually in the business. Van Horssen Group.

    Now the bad news:

    1. Our local resorts and tourist attractions will be mobbed next week (most of January for that matter) dealing with the seasonal peak loading and Fiesta Bowl events. They will be unlikely to entertain shutting down any part of their facilities on short notice to accommodate your request.
    2. If the local Ferrari Club Concorso is any measure, it takes months (more like a year) of cajoling and personal contact to coax million dollar cars from local collections and into a public show. You are asking these same fellows to bring there cars out to benefit your undisclosed purpose, at a as yet unknown location, for a photo shoot with an undisclosed “celebrity.” Not likely.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on venues, cars, photographers, etc. It is proving helpful as we set things up.

We now have a professional photography crew in place, as well as two local venues for a half-day shoot.

I'm looking for volunteers who have late-model exotics to help me out. In addition to helping out a fellow F-Chatter, I'd like to do what I can to express my appreciation and make it something worth you doing. We are trying to get a number of exotics to one of two resorts in Scottsdale – they just need to be parked out front for about 5 to 6 hours next Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you are potentially interested in having your car in the shoot, please send me an e-mail or private message and I can give you more details on where it will be, who will be in it, and why it might be something you find worth doing.

I know most of you don’t know me since I’m not in the Scottsdale area, but you can always ask friends in the Southern California enthusiast community about me (I was active in Los Angeles before moving to Boston to attend business school).

I apologize for all of these postings, but the timing and location of this shoot changed at the last minute, so I’m sort of scrambling to pull things together in a city I don’t know. Again, I appreciate all of the help you’ve given me so far!

The shoot will be on Tuesday afternoon (Jan 3) at the Wrigley Mansion, and will feature a current Formula One driver. In case anyone is interested in helping out, we're still trying to round up a couple recent-year Ferraris (430/360/355 or 550/575). Cars could arrive / be dropped off anytime Tuesday AM and picked up Tuesday after 6PM. If anyone is willing to help out, we can talk on the phone over the weekend and meet in person sometime Monday, as I will be arriving in Scottsdale a day early.

We have Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Porsche represented, and may even get a Pagani Zonda. However, still looking for one or two Ferraris to round out the mix. As a token of our appreciation, we're paying $500 cash to whoever volunteers a car for 6 hours.
