This comes up a lot so I figured a few of you might like some feedback. My fathers 97-355 GTS is the first 355 I've had the pleasure to drive. The first thing I noticed was how "tight" it was from 1st to 2nd, especially when cold. At first I chalked it up to the gated Ferrari shifter, but since it was due for an oil change, doing the tranny fluid is not a big deal.

5 quarts of Royal Purple 75w-90 later, the first test drive was night & day from before. 1st to 2nd is very smooth and only got better as the car warmed up.

The old fluid was red, did show signs of condensation. So I'm sure it was beyond it's usefulness regardless of what brand was in there. Shavings on the plug were normal, nothing unexpected there.

IMO any new fluid is better than whatever old stuff you are running. RP seams like a good option (and available locally) for these cars. On my "fun" cars I usually change the tranny fluid once per year anyway.
