Hope some of you guys can help. Last weekend i noticed my 355 drops rpm's almost to 500 when i am going 50-60-70 on highway or rural road and then have to stop for a stoplight or something then, like i always do, press clutch, put it in neutral amd let it coast. As soon as i put in in neutral... Rpms drop like crazy almost to a stall. If i blip throttle, then it goes up and stays up... Idle at a stop is normal and all is well. Cleaned my idle control valve well... Still no change

The first thing I'd check is for any air leaks on the induction side of the engine.

A "smoke test" might highlight any possible issues (I say might because if it is a leak and very slight then it might get overlooked).

I know it's not a Ferrari but I've got a BMW that had very similar symptoms to yours and it turned out to be a split in the intake hose from the MAF to the induction manifold.

The fault didn't occur all the time and the split could only be seen by removing the hose and squeezing it to open up the split (I'd had the bloody thing off three times before I found the split! - The first two times I was convinced there was no split but I only visually inspected it. The third time I was resigned to just replacing it anyway and so got a bit more physical with it! Low and behold, there was the split! - Alongside a strengthening rib. The fault had be driving Me nuts because it was so random when it would occur).

This may not be your issue but it's the first thing I'd try to rule out.

Best of luck with it - Hope you get it sorted! :)

Mine was doing this at the beginning of the year too. Seemed like after you were running at highway speed for a while then pushed in the clutch on an off ramp it would drop down. Mine actually died a few times and I just let the clutch out a bit while coasting in gear to turn the engine and fire it back up then it would idle perfectly. Definitely seemed like the idle air control valve was not opening up fast enough.
Unfortunately I can't tell you a cause sense mine just quit doing it on it's own before I got to investigate.

For S**ts and giggles try unplugging the idle control valve while the car is running then plug it back in, the rpm will go to 950

The valve can be bad even if it seems to be working, what I mean is the control gets a "sticky" spot at the idle and high idle rpm.

    Check for air leaks first.

    :)
