Peter van Merksteijn said that Team Goh took possession of their 2008 Le Mans (and Le Mans Series) class winning Spyder yesterday. Team manager for the 2009 campaign will be Torsten Robbens (as in 2004). No driver details yet, but a factory driver may be made available. An application for Le Mans has been submitted and their 2009 programme will definitely include the Spa Le Mans Series race.

We've seen this purple spyder at many races this past season . . . FAST, FASTEST are the best adjectives to describe this car. This car was the top LMP2 in LMS and was always right up in the top 5-10 with the 908 and R10's. It would have put Penske to shame against his factory squad. Perhaps the factory driver that may be available could be Sasha Maassen who orignially tested the car. If Jos didn't end up going to jail for the six or eight months or whatever, that would be a great driver line-up, if Peter would drive too...wow.

2009 LeMans Series season and the 24h are the places to be! Lots of fantastic racing ahead!

As a three year project, Team Goh was the overall 2004 24h winner with TK, Seiji Ara and Dindo in the R8.

He went to jail? What for?

    Back on topic-

Great to have an RS going on, wish it was in the ALMS though!

harrassment and assault -> 3 months suspended and €1650 fine = several months ago.....

back to topic- if accepted (most probably) that will make a great LMP2 class at LeMans! too bad for ALMS - P2 class is very small. It sounds like Team Goh may use Spa as a test for the big one. Nevertheless,,, there seems to be exciting news every day.

Is Porsche still providing support for the RS Spyder?

Will they run the DFI engine used towards the end of last season by Penske?

Don't know about the support...nothing mentioned in article.....guess they could be like Horag and buy two so one is a spare! When they switched to the DFI engine in ALMS, it seemed like they took a step backwards.

Wondering now what will happen to Team Essex Spyder.

The DFI engine was probably more suited to the longer LMS races than the ALMS sprints, I thought it was more of the Acura's taking more steps forwards rather than the Porsches going backwards. I believe the Penske cars are now in Porsche's new museum so maybe it will be a similar fate for the Essex car?
