Hey, I need to get "The" table at Del Frisco's a week from Saturday at 8:00 and I was thinking of dropping Roland's name as a recco.....

    Is this a good idea?

    :)

In a few years, I think you'll look back and think, "Wow, that's the least classy thing I've ever done in my entire life." You've really shown your true character. Every one of us despises you.

Do you think, maybe one day, someone will immortalize it in a TV commercial and pay me for it too? Wouldn't that be classy?

Just because no one else says it doesn't mean they aren't thinking it! I perform a valuable public service.

This is pretty low. No joke.

Anyone in the 'know' is aware that Del Frisco's is no Morton's.

Darth, as long as it's based on lies and deception, you should be all good. Like money in the bank.

With any luck, perhaps Turtle Wax will approach you!

Of course it's no Morton's. It's way better than Morton's. In fact, if I had to rank the 5 best steak places here in the Denver area, it would be:

    1. Del Frisco's
    2. Elway's
    3. Morton's
    4. Bob's
    5. Ruth's Chris

And Del Frisco's and Elway's are leaps and bounds ahead of those others, in my opinion.

Although my overall opinion has not changed, I would like to apologize for my opening comment in this thread as it was just a dig.

I mentioned in another thread that this may have been too harsh. Although Rob did not ask me to do this, he did remind me that I have no personal involvement with either Roland or the event.

So in the spirit of fairness, I wish to offer this retraction.

You're right. DF's is much better than Morton's.

I don't even know what all this Roland bashing is about, though. He seems like a pretty good guy from all I've read.

I was seriously disappointed in Elway's (for steak, anyway), although I agree on DF's. Never been to Bob's, where is that?

    I also like Sullivan's.

Because evey time I call, I keep forgetting to use your name to get "THE" table there. :D

Ditto on the B.S. call. Guys, there are going to be differing opnions on this. Just because someone's going to disagree on the Roland matter doesn't make him classless. Darth is going to make joke about things like that, there's no two ways about it. This place would be dead w/o Darth's humour. At any rate, the fact that he's been magnanimous enough to apologize should go to show you what kind of person he really is.

Ok meat eaters, here's todays useless trivia.

Bob's and Del Friscos were both started in Dallas. At the same time. At the same place. Bob and Del were partners, and Del Friscos was doing booming business. Del wanted to grow and move to North Dallas, Bob didn't. So, Del left and Bob stayed. Del took the name, Bob kept the building. The original Bob's is still in the same location and still has the Del Friscos red roses painted on the mirrors behind the bar.

Del moved North, got a new partner, did a gazillion dollars of business, and cashed out to the partner who then sold to whoever owns them now that took them national.

Bob later decided to open a far-North Dallas store, then expanded to San Fran and Denver.

Bob's is better, at least in Dallas. :)
