    Need to replace. Any help on where to buy gasket would be appreciated . Also can you just replace at molded corners where gasket goes around hole where peg on top goes into or is it a long gasket that goes from center of driver door sill to center of passenger door sill. Thanks in advance.

    Has your car been updated to accept the new style gasket. The old type gasket gets squeezed between the targa top and the windshield frame.( the gasket is plainly visible) The new style lets the targa top sit on top of the gasket. (the gasket is harder to see)

    I don't know which gasket Ricambi has, but is probably the new type. I have a '79 GTS and it also was not converted. You may still be able to get the metal strip to do the conversion.

    OK. How bad was it? Mine has never been updated. My roof doesn't leak (not that my car ever gets wet), but my front weatherstripping is in rough shape.

    does anyone have any tips on installing the front gasket that is on top of windshield and front of GTS roof panel on 78 308?? Looks straight forward except possibly stuffing the gasket around the hole that receives the peg on the roof panel. Any tricks like using vasoline or something to make easier to slide into recess? Thanks in advance for any advise.

    I wouldn't use petroleum on it but maybe silicone grease.

    Are you trying to install a new gasket? If so, is it the new style gasket?

    Yes it is a new gasket,the original style,not the new style. Gasket is totally visible from the top side with the roof panel on. Have you changed one on your car? May not be a issue once I get into it but gasket is pretty dense at the molded corner and I do not think it will compress very much to get in to slot. Any tips will be appreciated before I get started.

    Can we see some pictures? What do the rubber ends (right in front of the pin holes) look like?

    Mine were very worn with the smooth rubber "skin" worn away and many depressed spots. I eventually filled it in so it looks better now.

    I have a 78 with the old gasket so I am curious about your install. I do not plan to do the modification due to the complexity and bodywork involved.

    Will post before and after pics the first part of May when I start to change the gasket. Will be out of commission till then but I was searching for info on what others had encounter. I got the the rare windshield/ roof panel/ door post gasket for a 308 from T. Rutland. Look like the correct one goes from driver side door sill to passenger side door sill. All one piece and long with molded corners where roof panel peg hole is.

    I received mine from TRutlands and installed it the same day. It fit just like the original.

    Grandson and I changed gasket Sunday took about 1 hour. No big deal,looks great,no modifying required.

    Just pulled off the metal flange sticking up starting at the gasket joint in center of door sill. Metal flange goes all the way around to center of door sill on the other side of car. Get the top corners lined up and taped over flange with wood mallet. Top corners were not a big deal like I thought might be a problem. Having trouble posting pics
