Each Dino appears to have (6) rubber bumpers or stops or whatever they're called to keep a bonnet/engine compartment lid/trunk lid from hitting the body when closed.

My Dino was missing the ones for the trunk and the prior owner had just glued a piece of rubber to minimize contact between the trunk lid and the body each time it was closed. This solution certainly doesn't seem `correct' and doesn't really work either as evidenced by small instances of chipped paint where there's been contact. So I bought a set of these rubber bumpers/stops from Rutlands figuring the extras would get used eventually (and the set was pretty cheap).

But the hole in the body where they would mount is much larger than those for the bonnet and engine compartment rubber bumpers. So can anyone provide a picture of what these trunk bumper/stops look like installed and tell me how they're attached? I want to make sure what I bought really are correct for the trunk, but I also want to make sure they're installed correctly rather than jury-rigged to fit. The picture I attached is what I bought.

Has someone used a larger screw and made your mounting holes oversized?
If so, you could just move the rubber pad over a bit and screw the new pad down right next to the old hole. The larger hole would be covered by the pad. Sealing up the extra holes with a dab of black silicone would probably be good preventative maintenance....
That's just a thought, as it would be much easier than welding shut, metal finishing, painting etc. the areas with the oversized screw holes, only to poke another hole right in the same place.
Those rubber pads sometime need to be adjusted up (add rectangular black rubber spacer to bottom) or down (trim with razor blade) to get the right panel fit.
You could also possibly reference the other 4 original pads for the correct type and size screws.
I'm not even sure you should pilot drill a hole for this job. You would probably get the best hold down results by just using a screw gun/drill. That screw will go right through the sheet metal.
    Post up some pics!

If accessible from inside the trunk (after removal of the rear trunk wall liner), I actually thought of just attaching the new bumpers by screwing from below rather than from above. When I test fit (2) new bumpers by just positioning them, the trunk lid is a little more difficult to latch, but everything aligns properly (ie, the trunk lid is flush with the rear qtr panels, etc).
